Auto Mode Human Player actions.

Am I reading this correctly, based on the definition of a drive team and G19 does this mean that during auto mode yellow totes can’t be introduced?

DRIVE TEAM – one (1) COACH, two (2) DRIVERS, and one (1) HUMAN PLAYER from the same FRC Team who are responsible for ROBOT operation during a particular MATCH.

G19 During AUTO, DRIVE TEAMS must remain behind the STARTING LINE and may not contact the OPERATOR CONSOLE, unless for personal or equipment safety.

That is correct. However, teams may start with up to 3 of the yellow totes on the field in their marked locations in the starting zone.

I understand that, just had some ideas and wanted to be sure. Thanks.

That is correct. I too am unsure, but in previous years, the human player zone was a seperate zone from the “driver control station.” Due to this, my best guess is that the line that seperates the driver station and the HP zones would be the “STARTING LINE,” and as long as you are outside of that you’ll be okay. But I’m sure this will go to QA.

Per 2.2, “The STARTING LINE is the width of the ALLIANCE STATION …”. The ALLIANCE STATION is the entire area that Human Players can be (including the Human Player Stations).

Thus, it is not easy to put the yellow tote into the chute, and open the chute. The HP’s feet must remain behind the line. Loading the Tote is a possibility. Leaning over to open the chute is a tougher problem.

All I really see human players being able to do in autonomous is stack totes/ gather litter next to the line.

Not to say that wouldn’t help save time during tele-op.

G19 During AUTO, DRIVE TEAMS must remain behind the STARTING LINE and may not contact the OPERATOR CONSOLE, unless for personal or equipment safety.

It remains to be seen this year whether “remain behind” means not breaking the plane of the line, or not committing a foot fault.
