I’m trying to find out how to do network rendering with Backburner. Is anyone familiar with this that can help me out?
I have Backburner installed on all of the computers we want to network render with but I can’t seem to get any jobs to show up. We are all using 3DS Max Design 2010.
I’m not familiar with network rendering at all so please bear with me haha Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance
What sort of problems are you running in to? Is there anything specific you need help with?
I’m at school so I can’t see the video but this looks like a link that will help you, not sure though. http://designreform.net/2008/12/3ds-max-rendering-with-backburner/
Our team has been using this process for a few years now hope this helps
FIRST you have to have manager open on the main computer you want to run everything from.
you then have to open server on all the computers you want to render on and make sure they connect to the computer that has manager open.
go back to the computer you are runnning everything from and open your scene in max.
go to render setting and in the common panel in the render output section there is a check box for net render. (also make sure you specify where you want to save your output files.)
click render
network job assignment window opens
set the subnet mask to whatever the manger computer’s is.
click connect
all the computers should show up on the top section of the window.
click submit and your job should start rendering
open monitor
click on the green plug in upper left
type in manager’s ip address/computer name or auto find under the subnet mask
from there you should be able to see if everything is working properly and how long it is take per frame to render.
Wow thank you so much guys!! This should definitely help our team so much.
Thanks.
I’m glad someone asked about this - I’ve been looking all over for how to do this.
But I do have one question - can I run Manager and Server on the same computer, or is that not possible, or will Manager itself render as well? I only have two computers with 3ds Max, and I don’t think network rendering will be all that useful if only one of them renders…
Thanks for your previous post as well!
Yeah, you can run manger and server on the same computer
