Best change for allowing teams to push boundaries and try new things. im super stoked for this change.
THEY ADDED THE ‘A STOP’!!!
This is a huge win for teams—no more crossing the centreline and giving up 100pts in penalties before even getting a chance to drive.
A-Stop… E-Stop… What happened to B, C and D?
Also, blue and red tape spotted in the background. Human player stations in the corner on the opposite side of the field, maybe?
That is going to amazing! So many less broken robots! (Our frame would have liked that feature in our first match)
This is great! They should be well labeled, ideally the A-stop button is a different color if such a thing is available. Currently they look too similar IMO (grey base vs yellow base), but that may just be a prototype.
A team pressing the E-Stop instead of the A-Stop during auto is a feels-bad moment, a team pressing the A-Stop instead of the E-Stop during teleop where it will have no effect could be a safety issue.
Leave the F-stops in the media box.
I see the new team number displays too. Will be interesting if those are all fields or just partial fields this year.
You know what else is blue? Water, water game confirmed.
Would’ve loved this in a couple matches last year:
Wonder if this means we’re going to have a scary task to complete in auton…
@Leap it’s a trap
I’m hoping it’s all fields
For anyone that missed it:
The rest are reserved for Crescendo
I believe the tape is from the Charged Up field
Given the A-Stop seems to be on a cord I would assume that a driver holds it during Auto so that should make it pretty hard to grab the wrong one. You’re right that pressing the wrong button in Tele-Op could be an issue, although I would hope the A-Stop is coded to still stop the robot if pressed during Tele-Op.
Maybe.
I expect the will allow teams to use the A-stop to prevent field damage and even robot damage. But using it to avoid getting a penalty might be wishful thinking…
We’llLimelight, an integrated vision coprocessor see what the rules say about it…
I don’t think so, in the video he’s standing in the red alliance station and the double tape is to his left-hand side. In 2023, the tape would be on the opposite side of the station.
The video is most likely teasing the 2024 layout instead.
There was a myth in my team that I was never able to verify if it was true where if you e-stopped the robot during auto and then un-e-stopped it before the tele-op phase started, your robot would re-enable. Has anyone else heard or seen this done?
Only on Chezy Arena. Never before an official field feature.
These where plans actually used by Ferrari this season in F1, therefore unable.
First rule of Ferrari - never use plan A
