So at the Lenape FIRST District event (which was great btw!) during the award ceremonies they announced all the Woodie Flower’s nominee’s that would be passed on to the MAR Championship. They were suppose to announce all the competition nominee’s but they seemed to not announce ours. I don’t know if it was a mistake or what not. I went to the head judge after the award ceremony and she said she would look into the matter. I just checked STIMS when I got home and it says we submitted at the Lenape competition. Hopefully it was just a mistake. Is there anything else I can do other than sit back and wait?
We had the same thing happen to us, only we submitted our WF nominee at Rutger’s, but at Rutger’s there was no mention whatsoever of the Woodie Flower’s award.
Yeah at our first event (Chestnut Hill) they never mentioned it either. But they did at Lenape- I think we were ahead of schedule and had time to do so.
This is my personal mistake and I feel terrible about it. I had your team’s nomination on my list, but the list was not in team number order. My mistake it that I tried to organize it in my head instead of write it down. Upon recognizing the last name on the list, I forgot to go back and recognize your nominee. It was brought to my attention by the Judge Advisor as we were packing to leave for the event.
I take personal responsibility for it and apologize. Please do not blame FIRST. This was my mistake. To specify, the nominee I forgot was the great Nathan Knauss, FIRST Senior Mentor and STORM Mentor Extraordinaire. Congratulations to Nate and all the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award nominees at the Lenape District Event. Best of luck at the Mid-Atlantic Robotics Championship event in a few weeks. All of you are winners for inspiring the next generation of leaders and engineers!
Regards.
John
I have to say, this was a nice touch to the event, because we did not announce our WFA nominee, so to have him recognized was a nice surprise.
Nice job, John! Sorry to 2729 for not having Nate announced. He’s absolutely awesome, and definitely deserves the recognition.
Best wishes to all of the nominees at the MAR Championship!!
John,
Its alright. It happens and thanks! MOE has some of the best mentors out there (including yourself) and congrats on the competition win. We’ll you at the MAR Championships!
Om.
Thanks for accepting my apology.
And kudos for Storm 2729 for all your energy during the whole competition and congrats on your Entrepreneurship award!
John - There really is no need to worry about any of this. I know what it’s like to make a presentation like you did and to forget pieces. You did a wonderful job presenting all of the WFFA in the arena and this year’s nominees at the Lenape District.
The big picture item is highlighted above for us all to remember. All mentors everywhere deserve this recognition!
