i was wondering if my team wins an award in the first award ceremony (imagery and autodesk) can we still win the some other award in the 2nd award ceremony:confused: hope you can help
Yup, you can. =)
Best of luck.
Of course. Excellence in multiple fields should always be rewarded.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Judges like to spread the wealth around, so to speak. The Judge Advisors job is to ensure that one team doesn’t win multiple awards, as long as there are other deserving recipients. This doesn’t always happen, but they try to do this.
I’ve have been a Judge Advisor at the FLL and FTC levels, as well as a judge at the FRC level.
In a way I think this is a good thing, but I also think that teams that ARE the best in multiple areas should get the awards for those things. So what if the same team wins 5 awards? That should inspire the other teams to try to be even BETTER than that team next time… I’m not really sure of my opinion on this one.
but just for example if a team wins imagery award and autodesk visualisation award and also chairmans or engineering shoudnt it be grong to give that team the imagery award???
If you won it honestly, it isn’t wrong. Just gives everyone else something to shoot for.
The judges try to share awards among many, many deserving teams.
I think it is reasonable that one team could be considered for several awards, and the judges would work to find the best fits among all of the teams.
I think it is non unusual for a team to win a technical and non-technical award at the same event, depending on their strengths.
Remember also that some of the awards are judged away from the regional and are not part of the judging at the event. This includes Website, Woodie Flowers, Visualization and, in Atlanta, the Inventor Award. These judges do not consider what other awards a team might be receiving, and I don’t think they factor in to the at the event judge decisions.
