Bad Robot Characterizations

Hello all,

I’m not sure how I got the bottom graph, but I need to go back and check everything. I thought there should be a topic for really bad characterizations.

During the Characterization process did your robot move forwards, backwards, forwards, backwards, and rotate respectively? If it did, I think there might be something not right with your encoders or your gyro. (Examining the code manually might be worth a shot) Also, if you are using talons you should use the talon mode instead of the simple setting. I am not the most experienced out there but I am certain people here will help if these tips don’t help.

I have absolutely no idea what could have gone wrong to create those plots. If you ever figure it out, please let us know :stuck_out_tongue:

No, that was the odd thing, I had characterized a robot back in December and this one behaved that same as the other. When I saw the plots I laughed out loud for a good minute. I am suspicious of the encoders, I ran a test of them by turning the wheel 360 and I felt I did not get the right encoder ticks.
