BAE Grant 24-25

Our FRC all girls team applied for the BAE grant for the first time this year. Can anyone with experience/knowledge share when we might expect to hear if we received the grant or not? We are holding off paying a registration fee until we hear. And if that time has already passed, and grants have been awarded, there’s no need for us to continue to wait. Thanks in advance for any details you can share.

We haven’t seen BAE come through our dashboard yet either, sit tight and keep your fingers crossed that you got it :slight_smile:

Did they start announcing the grant recipients?

They have not

For FRC anyway, FIRST allows refunding of funds (unlike FTC and FLL), so you can pay for your registration and if your team does receive grants, you can ask for a check back. At least that was true as recently as last year and I don’t believe that has changed.

The current guidance from FIRST is

  • If you are expecting a grant, please do not check out until that grant has been awarded. FIRST will not be able to make changes to orders after checkout.

Thank you, I will have to dig into this further, does this mean FIRST is not refunding additional grant money? so if teams can raises more than they need for their registration, do they no longer issue a check back? They used to do this for all three programs, they took it away in FLL and FTC two years ago, i have not seen any announcements of that changing for FRC.

It depends on the grant type. If the grant is “restricted”, you cannot regrant that money back to the team.

You can see the type of grant in your dashboard if you click on “Funds & Grants”. BAE grant was “unrestricted” last year but it is unclear if it will be the same this year.

We tried to apply for the BAE grant, but I think it was not international.

It typically shows up on the dashboard around the 3rd week of October, from my experience.

We just received a notification about receiving the BAE grant. Check your dashboard when you get the chance.

Does anyone know if they send a notice if you didn’t receive the grant? I’m like 99% sure we applied for it, but we can’t find a confirmation email.

I don’t believe they do. I think it’s just a notification sent to Lead Mentor 1/2 if you get the grant.

I did receive a declination notice a couple of years ago but procedures could have changed. For the record, we applied this year and i still havent seen anything in my dashboard yet.

Thanks. Nothing in our dashboard. Do you think all recipients have been notified? Or should I give up hope :melting_face:.

We received the email last Wednesday and this afternoon the funds showed in our dashboard.

For the record, this is not the case outside of North America. Ex. Turkish teams who get more grant money than events they can pay for lose the money at the end of the year. They can’t ask for a check back.
