Anyone heard any decisions from BAE as of yet?
Not yet; the paperwork said by today (10/26).
Last year applications were due 9/9 (versus 9/7 this year), we got an email on 9/30 saying the announcements would be delayed, and we were notified on 10/13. Hopefully with the extra time they allowed themselves we’ll hear today.
Well, its been an additional week. Has anyone heard anything?
<silence>
They may still be catching up from Sandy closings - hopefully soon
We’ve heard we didn’t get it.
I don’t think we will be getting it this year. They just announced that they are selling the armored vehicle division here in Cincy and moving the rest of their engineering to Texas.
All,
I can’t speak for every sector of BAE Systems, but with regards to Land and Armaments I can tell you that we are waiting for final approval of the 2013 fiscal year budget before committing specific funds to teams. We do expect approval during the month of November and we hope to have final grant announcements ready in the early December time frame. Other sectors are likely in a similar situation. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to provide the maximum amount of support possible to FIRST teams.
We just got an e-mail saying we have been approved for the BAE grant.
I hope you all hear something positive soon.
Has anyone received confirmation amount from BAE yet?
Team 78 received confirmation on Monday afternoon.
I called FIRST today to check on FIRST choice status. The FIRST staff states that there is a published list of BAE funding teams. Anyone have a link to a BAE funded list ?
I have not received any email about this list, but I’ve been told by FIRST (on the phone), my team was not on the list.
UPDATE: from talking to local Texas BAE contacts, it looks like the final list of teams is still unpublished. So we will continue to be patient and wait for the final list of sponsored teams!
I have not heard anything either and would like to see a link to this list.
Has anyone found the list mentioned above? The only one I’ve found is for last years teams.
It’s past early December, and our emails have gone unanswered so far. We’re assuming the worst, but would like to know for sure.
Same here. I emailed FIRST to see if they had the list or could confirm whether we were on the list or not. I didn’t receive a response from them.
I emailed BAE’s FIRST contact person on Monday and this is what I got back:
"There will not be another announcement of funding from your team’s supporting sector for the remainder of the year. Initial funding allocations went out two weeks ago, and another round may be announced in the January timeframe. "
I’m not even sure what that means. I’m thinking that they took care of SRT/Rookie grants first so they can get registered, get their KoPs, etc. and then in January, the rest of the funds will be given to veteran teams. That’s just my opinion, not an official answer.
Anyone else get a response?
As far as I know, the teams receiving this grant should have found out by now. My team received confirmation a few weeks ago we were receiving a grant and for how much. Last time I checked, while the funds hadn’t been officially been applied to our account in TIMS, there was a note in there that it will be soon. Not sure if BAE is still figuring out stuff on their end.
We received confirmation (with amount) last month.
I hope everyone who applied gets funded by BAE.
We just got notification yesterday that we would not be receiving the BAE Systems grant that we applied for last September. It ended with “…hope your FRC team has secured other sources of funding for a successful remainder to the season”.
I have mixed emotions about this - I’m not sure this notice is really any better than not hearing at all, which I thought was rather unprofessional. But they’ve been a good supporter of us and FIRST and I know how things go in a large company trying to get things done so I guess I’m willing to give them a pass and say thanks.
Think of it as they were desperately searching out all possible sources of grant funding beforte having to tell you that they failed.
There are often other sources of funding that the grant people are trying to bring together and make happen.
We got the same thing. We understand their funding needs and still appreciate their support to FIRST, but as a partner of 10 years it was kinda shocking to receive this letter. Oh well, at least they’re still helping FIRST teams in the end, and that’s what counts.
