Bag Day parody song

With the impending demise of Bag Day, I thought I’d share a parody song that I wrote a few months ago. It’s from a parent’s perspective and is a parody of “From Now On” from “The Greatest Showman” soundtrack.

Come Bag Day
(A First-Year Parent’s Lament)

Hours ago, the sun grow dim
And my fifth cup of joe grew cold
I’m glad our kids are learning STEM
But weeks go by and the build gets old
I don’t mean trouble
Still remains
I know one thing is true
This sleep I’ve lost
Won’t be regained
And I blame it all…
(looks at photo of Dean Kamen)
… On you

Come Bag Day
These eyes completely bloodshot from late nights
Come Bag Day
What started back at Kick-Off ends tonight
Tonight
All our lives were torn apart
With the help of Kit of Parts
Come Bag Day
Come Bag Day

We know our kids love building things
To meet the challenge of the game
But we’re no longer in our teens
The pitfalls of being middle-age.
With gears and tears
They bust their rears
The crazy need to make robots do more
Tonight it stops
When they leave there
We finally will see them much more

And come Bag Day
These eyes completely bloodshot from late nights
Come Bag Day
What started back at Kick-Off ends tonight
It ends tonight
All our lives were torn apart
With the help of Kit of Parts
Come Bag Day
Come Bag Day
Come Bag Day

And they will come back home
And they will come back home
Home, again!

Come Bag Day!

And they will come back home
And they will come back home
Home, again!

(gets text for kid: “11:59pm: ‘bots in the bag”)
Yes!

Come Bag Day!
These eyes completely bloodshot from late nights
Come Bag Day!
What started back at Kick-Off ends tonight
It ends tonight
All our lives were torn apart
With the help of Kit of Parts
Come Bag Day
Come Bag Day
Come Bag Day

And they will come back home
And they will come back home
Home, again!
