Can a team playing defense in the opponents zone put a ball into the opponents goal without a penalty? We are a tad concerned about this and it does not seem like we would but we would rather fix the code now rather than latter if there is
Well first of all check the rules, they are a much better source than anyone on Chief Delphi.
Second of all, you should search before you post. Check out all these threads, for more ideas on this type of strategy. A simple search will only take you minutes, instead of someone having to take the time to write a post like this one!
There is no rule against scoring for the other team.
This post took 30 sec btw.
but yes please search before posting.
I would recommend you not have your code automatically fire into any goal, for this and other reasons.
I am picturing a semi-autonomous robot trying to kick a hole in a wall at a target store…:ahh:
Haha, one way to lose a sponsor fast!
In my defense, i did do a search first and nothing on the subject came up. As well I have read through the rules and nothing came up. I dont know about the rest of you but we are really concerned about the aiming aspect. with only three inches allowed to touch the ball. the control is just not what we would have hoped for
Where is it that says you can only touch the ball three inches? There is a rule that states that the ball can only come into the robot perimeter 3 inches below the bumper zone, but there is no where that says that you can only touch the ball 3 inches.
You can touch the ball more but you can only extend out side of the robot frame into the bumper zone for 2 seconds, and then you cant re-extend into the bumper zone for another 2 seconds.
Why would it be a penalty? It’d just be a point for the opposing team.
Yea thats wat i was thinking.
Scoring for an opponent has generally always been a valid and sometimes necessary strategy. This year with the change in ranking system it’s almost required.
Why would you want to score points for the opponent?
Please read section 9 of the 2010 game manual, especially pages 3-4.
