Haven’t posted in a long time on CD due to being busy with college, but once I saw this cause I thought of the people here at Chief Delphi.
On www.barbie.com/vote they are having a competition to see which career should be the next one for Barbie. One of the possibilities for this year is Computer Engineer. I was hoping that members of CD would be able to help out and add in more votes for a Computer Engineering Barbie. I think that if this Barbie comes out, it might help inspire younger girls to get into engineering or computing.
Hey, I think that I just lost some man points too. Which is very impressive, as I am not a man. So I’m now in the negatives, because of the high quantity of pink, stereotypes, and…pink.
+1 CE
Though I feel like they blended the ideas of computer engineering and computer science…
Dan, you may have lost man points, but you more than made up for it by gaining “change-the-culture” points. I think this is a great idea - thanks a lot for bringing it to CD!
When Computer Engineer Barbie comes out, I might have to buy it, just because it’s COMPUTER ENGINEER BARBIE. I have a feeling that now that this is on Chief Delphi, the other options won’t stand a chance.
Barbie turned 50 in 2009 and celebrated in pink. She has reflected culture change as it has affected women for 50 years and she has gone through some changes, herself.
