Basically Canada forecast

Welcome to basicallyCanada, where we’ll be looking at where the Canadian wannabes (AKA Minnesota teams) stack up in their divisions.

**Most Canadian list heading into Champs. (Power rankings):
**
1: 5172
2: 2052
3: 3130
4: 2502
5: 2175

All most Canada forecast:
5172 (Newton): 5172 looks unstoppable heading into champs, often making up to 9 unblockable outerworks shots. They are in one of the hardest division in recent history, but this MN team has what it takes to be the first MN world champion. They seeded first at Iowa and never looked back, going undefeated at the event. 5172 is the most dominant MN robot heading to champs since 2169 back in 2013. I think everyone in MN is cheering you on. Prediction: 2nd overall pick

2052 (Carson): 2052 finally ended their regional finalist streak with a win at 10k. They seeded first at 10k and never stopped until they won the event. They are a low bar robot with a very consistent auto shot. They do about 5 high goals a match, and have been very dominant this year at both their events. This is my favorite robot in MN this year. Prediction: 3rd overall pick

3130 (Tesla): pretty much 2052 with a scale, I just feel like they are slightly less consistent than 2052. That doesn’t mean they can’t go off, watch them, you won’t be disappointed. Prediction: 5th seed alliance captain

2502 (Galileo): I really had no idea where to put them, you could make a very good case for them being the 2nd best robot in MN this year when they’re working, but they were only functional for 3 matches at 10k because of gearbox issues, but 2502 is known for fixing issues midseason. They won the northern lights regional by being the best batter shooter in MN and they showed that at 10k too when they were working. If they fix these issues they could very easily be the 2nd best robot in the state. They can do 7 high goals, and a climb. They could make waves in their division if they fix their gearboxes. Prediction: 4th overall pick

2175 (Curie): The Calcs are back!!! After a poor Iowa performance, 2175 showed off their amazing improvements, seeding first and picking 3130 to join their alliance at North Star. The shop mates showed everyone why they are the some of the best teams in MN every single year by taking home another blue banner. MN FIRST is more fun when 2175 is on top of their game. Prediction: 6th seed alliance captain

Glad to see Minnesota team hype but…

Another anonymous prediction account? Too many already

2169 wishes all our fellow Canadian wannabe teams that are going to CMP! Sad we won’t be joining you this year, but MN is being represented well nonetheless.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to make predictions from an anonymous account. I make predictions all the time and I’m almost always wrong. It doesn’t reflect poorly upon me or my team. Predictions are harmless and fun. Generally when making predictions you’re talking teams up anyways, so I guess I just don’t see the point of an anonymous account.

As for the Minnesota predictions I generally agree with the top 5 teams as listed. I think the predicted results are a little generous. I’m not sure how high most Minnesota teams will be drafted, but I would suspect there will be more second round picks than first round picks. 5172 will probably be the first non-2 ball auton robot taken on Newton if they aren’t the one picking.

3130 has a great robot, and a great drive team. 2052 is elite every year, and deserves way more recognition than they get. 2502 and 2175 will both make a playoff alliance, but it’ll depend on how they’re performing for how early they go. If both are on their A-game, they’ll go in the first round.

Some other great teams to note are 2220, 2883, 3102, 3042, 4536, 4607, and 6175. I think any of these teams can make a playoff alliance with the right strategies during quals. It’ll be interesting how things work out. I would say it’s more likely than not that we have another Minnesota teams on Einstein.

Cause it’s a group of people, they feel the need to be a collective identity.

Maybe in quality, but certainly not in quantity…

I’m going to sit here and blame this on the fact that Minnesota is not a district yet, but for the sake of sanity let’s leave the words “Minnesota” and “district” out of the same sentence from now on.

It seems Minnesota has gone Full Communism.

From now on, only music found in this playlist will be played at the Minne Mini.

We recommend the organizers of every other robotics event in Minnesota to follow suit. Comrades, unite!
