Batch WMV Conversion

I know there is a video forum, but no one reads it.

I am trying to find a way to batch convert (that is, many at once with no user input) WMV files into any sort of AVI. Right now I am using Bink and Smacker, which prompts for which AVI Codec to use for each file right before it encodes it, which means I have to baby sit it.

ffmpeg seems to choke on WMVs, VLC doesn’t seem to convert the video properly, and VirtualDub doesn’t do WMVs. This rules out all possible command-line scriptable programs I know of.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is my favorite. I payed the $30 for it, quite worth it, better at converting than Adobe Premiere Pro or the like.

A very popular free converter is Super© which can be found here: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html (Horrendous website, direct download here). I find it fairly confusing and I’m not positive it can do batch converting, but it is probably the most popular converter out there.

mencoder is a pretty powerful encoder, but it’s part of mplayer, which is based on libavcodec, the same engine that ffmpeg and vlc are based on (if I’m recalling correctly).

I just downloaded the trial of Blaze Media Pro a few days ago, and it seems to be working very well for my purposes. It can handle large batches at once without any input.

I have a media converter at home which works awesome. I’m not sure if it does video to video conversions, but I do know i can snag audio from a WMV or whatever.

I’ll have to see if it will convert movies to movies and let you know later tonight.
