Bay Area Scrimmage

Paly Robotics (Team #8 ) will be opening up its full practice field for its second annual series of pre-competition scrimmages this year. The current plan is to host scrimmages on 2/15 and 2/16 (weekend of week 6). We are also considering hosting a scrimmage on the weekend of 2/22.

Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in coming. We know that it’s still early in the season, so an actual commit form and more details will be sent out towards the end of week 5.

Below are additional details about the scrimmage:
Where will this be located? This will be located at Palo Alto High School in the Robotics Lab area (50 Embarcadero Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94301).
What kind of field do we have? Paly Robotics currently maintains a full-sized wooden game field, including a full field of game elements, field perimeter, and driver stations.
How long will the scrimmages be? Tentatively, the scrimmages will be from 1:00 - 6:00 pm.

Wondering if this will be available as a live stream or as videos after? If so can you put the link/website/whatever where we would be able to find it?

While a stream would be pretty cool, we understand that many teams may wish to keep their robot unrevealed before their first competition, and so we most likely will not be streaming the scrimmage live.

Assuming we have a robot by then, Team 5940 would love to participate!

Hello Teams,

Sorry that this wasn’t mentioned earlier, but only teams that have signed up/contacted me and intend to bring their robots to practice are invited to attend.

Hello Teams!

We had an awesome Week 0 scrimmage! We ran at least 20 scrimmage matches over the course of two days, and teams were also able to test their mechanisms and driving. Big thanks to teams 5419, 2813, 192, 5026, 7445, 115, 6036, 1700, 7419, 6662, 3501, 4159, 4255, and 5940 for coming!

Day 1

Day 2

Reminder that any footage taken at the footage is strictly not to be shared in any public forum (CD, reddit, youtube) until after Week 6 of competition season.

We will be holding another scrimmage on Saturday (2/22). A link to the sign up form is here. Hoping to see even more teams there!

Thank you so much Caleb and the rest of team 8 for letting us scrimmage on your field! I know we (2813) learned a bunch about our own robot and the interaction of other robots these past 2 days and can’t wait to come back next week!

I hope we see more teams next week as this is a great opportunity to try out our robots!
