[BB]: Bill's back

The title says it all… the blog post title, that is. Now I’m trying to remember where I’ve heard that line before, because I know I have. I think it was Twain… and NO, I don’t think it’s a hint.

It is indeed a line by Mark Twain.

Andrew Schreiber likes this.

This is great news, it is never good when someone is sick but always good when they get better. Hope Bill doesn’t push himself too hard in the near future and takes the time to get back to 100% instead of just good enough.

The line is also stated by Capt. Picard in Star Trek: First Contact
(In a robotics forum, i’m sure there are Trekkie’s  )

Where do you think he got it from? Even in the far future, I’m sure there are Twain fans.

Oh, I know, I just wanted to put a “pop-culture” reference into it

As a huge fan or Star Trek, I would like to respectfully make a correction as to what we are called. We are not Trekkies, we are Trekkors

wouldn’t that mean you were trekking somewhere?

Here is a snippet from wikipedia that helps explain the difference:

Some Star Trek enthusiasts prefer the term “Trekkie”, while some others self-identify as “Trekker”. Self-identification as a “Trekkie” became even less popular after a famous national television parody in 1986 (see Parodies below); several self-described “Trekkers” were quoted as saying they “had a life” (contrasting themselves from “Trekkies”).

In the 1991 TV show Star Trek: 25th Anniversary Special, Leonard Nimoy attempted to settle the issue by stating that the term ‘Trekker’ is the correct one.

In the documentary Trekkies, Kate Mulgrew stated that Trekkers are the ones “walking with us” while the Trekkies are the ones content to simply sit and watch Star Trek.

It could be a dilemma requiring a decision:

to Trekker not to trek.

I think I know what Mr. Twain’s decision would be.

Glad to hear you are feeling better, Bill. Keep it up.
And, thank you to Frank Merrick, for keeping us posted.
