Just realized something: My mentor (Mitch Kahn) is the co-founder of App Delegates! I’ll go talk to him about releasing the game manual early! :wink: Maybe not that, but it’s pretty cool finding out your mentor made an app for FIRST. :smiley:

Good Morning Teams,

The new FRC Android and iOS apps are now available on line. Don’t know why that’s exciting? Read my November 28 blog. If you have an Iphone, search for “FRC Manual” in the App Store. If you have an Android, you can use this link right now. The App is expected to be available in the Android Market soon.

The Apps currently show the 2011 game information and will automatically update after Kickoff with the new Game Manual. Our thanks to Enable Training & Consulting and Appdelegates for their work on these Apps.

The encrypted Kit of Parts Checklist has been added to the Competition Manual page on our website.

I like how they broke up the sections and that there is a section specifically for penalties. That will make it way easier when you are debating with other team members on how the rule is to be interpreted. I also like how the field layout is in its own section so you can just look at a picture of a field. This will help me explain to non-FRC people what the game entails without spending 5 minutes looking up the manual online.

Yay FIRST got it right this time. Now hopefully I will get push notifications the second team updates are released.

I totally did the same thing! I freaked out for a second or two… I thought my life had ended and the afterlife was finding out the 2012 FIRST Robotics game >.<

I looked at the APP on my Android Phone. It’s definitely a good app. It’s a B+ IMO.

However, to become an GREAT APP it needs some minor enhancements.

  1. The ability to SEARCH the entire manual, or at the very least the section you are reading.

  2. The ability to ZOOM the page(s) you’re reading for those of us who no longer have super sharp eye sight. :slight_smile:

I love the fact that under “Video’s” you can watch 7 different “FRC Mastery” video’s. How awesome is that?!

Another nice feature would be if we were able to skip the intro section. Those 10 seconds wasted are 10 seconds that make it less convenient to whip out and check a rule with.
