[BB] Not the Game Hint

Today’s blog:

Good Afternoon Teams,

On Monday I announced the new Manual format and am delighted by the number of people who have gone to check it out. For those of you who asked, yes, a pdf of the manual will be available in an encrypted version before Kickoff so teams may download it in advance and avoid the kickoff rush. For all your other comments and concerns, please visit the Online Manual section of the Beta Test Forums because the staff involved in this project are monitoring those pages and are answering questions there.

As your team plans for build season, (and if you haven’t started to plan for build season, now would be a very good time to do so) make sure you build in a cushion for unexpected delays and setbacks. FRC is not planning to grant extensions to the build season for weather delays. FRC is a microcosm of the real engineering experience. Just like in the business world, your local climate is one of the many elements you must factor into the equation as you set your schedule. Plan now, how will your team handle bad weather, unexpected power outages, cold and flu season, delayed shipments and anything else that might crop up during build season? Businesses have to adjust to unexpected setbacks in order to meet their deadlines. How are you going to respond?”

As your team plans for competition season, you may want to visit the Steele Meetings/FIRST website before you make any hotel arrangements. http://www.steelehousing.com The program offers best in class pricing and value added amenities. Plus, your participation in this hotel program will help support the local FRC regional events.

Tell everyone you know, FTC is looking for a full time engineer.

37 days until Kickoff
See you then!

AHHHHH Bill always has the best titles ever!

I think its a misnomer. This is clearly a hint. Bad weather is mentioned. Bad weather involves rain. Rain is water. It’s a water game!

Huh, it’s a little early for him to be saying it isn’t the game hint. Last year the first hint of the two wasn’t released until December 21st, twenty days from now.

Genius.

But anyway, in regards to “The Hint”, this was posted today on FIRST’s facebook page:

Okay… we felt your pain. We heard your pleas. We worked through the NIGHT to extract ANY kind of hints from FRC staff. We even sent our trusty Elfbot in as a spy. Finally, we cornered Bill Miller this morning, and this is what we got:

“Coming soon. And that’s it.”

Mission not complete! We’ll keep working on it…

Hmmm…now to figure out why the words “Night” and “Any” would be all capitalized…

EDIT: Any way I can scale the image down and have it not be so large and obnoxious?

We must be ready to build a robot at any night in the season.

Anagram for “anything”?

Game played in the dark?

Green robot. That is all I see. Red/Blue/Green aliances? Maybe add the Yellow from back in the day as well.

I’d love to see a 2v2v2 game…but if 1v1v1 history was any indication, I think it would generally result in 4v2 matches even without any collusion. I suspect this was just a robot they had handy.

Looks to me like that Robot has pneumatic tires on it. Things go bump in the NIGHT so we must have small bumps that 8" AM tires can go over.

Other than the fact that we’ll now have to buy green and yellow bumper fabric, I think that would be awesome.

I’ve got a crazy idea… The kinect is a better source of imaging than the axis camera that we got. Maybe FIRST has played with it a little and have gotten it to work with little lag or wait time. This could mean obstacles we can not see around on the playing field forcing us to use imaging to see around things.

Is this a valid thought process or am I just insane?
