Being invited to regionals

Are official invitatons for regionals 1) only sent after the final district 2) only sent to mentor 3)any other information that can be divuldged on this here topic:]

I am a little confused by your question. Does this have to do with FRC or is it for FTC?

Could you provide a little more information.

FRC. . . essentially our team did okay through 2 district events. . . and was wondering if we are in or not for the regional event

You don’t seem to be using terms very clearly.

A district event is a competition, about 40 teams, that takes place in a district (which a team in Iowa would not be in). The district championship (or “states” if Michigan) is a competition for which teams are invited based on accrued points. I do not know who is notified, but at least for Michigan, a publicly-available spreadsheet shows how you are ranking.

From Regionals (competitions not in districts) and district champs, teams that qualify then are invited to the Championship (“worlds” or “nationals” :o). Again, I don’t know who exactly is notified, but it’s usually obvious if you are invited.

If you are going to Championship on the lottery, that’s another kettle of fish.

Edit: What team are you with?

Alex,
Are you asking about Championship? Teams sign up for regionals when they register. Then later you get a second choice opportunity and then later…
Thankfully some one else on the team has to handle this.
For Champs you have to first earn a spot. Then if there are any opening slots, they go to first come first served based on team number. All the info is on the FIRST Website.

Still confused. I was not aware that Iowa had gone to a district system.

Nonetheless, teams earn points at each district event, get sufficient points and you are qualfiedd to attend the district championship. To find your team’s points score, refer to your district’s web site.

Iowa does not have district FRC. There is a super regional for FTC in Iowa I believe, but again winning regional or state events would have made the team available to advance.
