okay so the situation is we have the 4ft cog belt that came with the kit we need it shortened and to be able to attach the 2 ends any ideas?
If you’ll give me an hour or so I have a student that can answer this question for you. If it’s the belt I’m thinking of you can cut it and then meld it back together. As soon as I see Robogeek99 I’ll show him your post and get back with you.
The Gates information that came in the Kit says the belts can’t be field connected or spliced together other than by using clamp plates.

dont think melting them together would be that safe anyways…
so IMO i wouldnt try that…
We just order more belt from B&B manufacturing today. If you have the room in your robot, and you don’t want to modify your belt; you can just wrap belt along in circles. Also if you must modify your belt, be careful of the rules; melding the belt isn’t not allowed. You must check completely with the rules.
What rule says that?
I don’t see one. It’s not a motor or a control system component, so it can be modified; it’s not electrical, so there aren’t limits on that.
I am almost positive you are incorrect here, could you post the rule number?
In the past, wasn’t there a rule against chemically altering kit parts? It doesn’t seem to exist this year.
It’s been years since that one was around. Maybe back around the time when I was a rookie was when it disappeared. (Note: my official rookie year was 2003. I hung around long before then.)
