How do you all put your bumper numbers on and what are the best methods/types of numbers to use? We want to make sure they stay on this year!

Sharpie it up!

don’t the rules say it has to be white numbers this year?
If so,

Either way sharpies work great.

Here is the rule they need to be at least outlined in white, so silver should be fine as long as you outline it in white
[R35] GAME
Teams shall display their team number on the Bumpers in four locations at approximately 90° intervals around the perimeter of the Robot. The numerals must be at least 4 in. high, at least ¾ in. in stroke width, and be either white in color or outlined in white. Team numbers must be clearly visible from a distance of not less than 100 ft, so that judges, referees, and announcers can easily identify competing Robots.
Does anyone know what 254 uses for their bumper numbers?
And I like the sharpie Idea, if we can’t get them embroidered.
We silk-screened last year, and it was our best set of bumpers ever.
We always sew ours on. Same fabric that we use for our bumpers, except in white. Always comes out sharp so you can see the number from far away.
White acrylic paint works well.
We use white fabric paint with a stencil. Very easy, very cheap!
We use yellow silkscreen ink painted on freehand. This year we’ll switch to white
I was thinking: 1114, 148, 469, 111, 16, 33, 67 - Those have to be some of the best bumper numbers.
We embroidered ours.
Solid embroidered and sewn corners. I made them and it took weeks. Embroidery was about $15-$20 per 3-digit number.
Heat fused vinyl numbers courtesy of the same shop that does our school’s athletic jerseys.
Looks like we have to switch from yellow to white this year as well.
We’ve been doing embroidered bumpers for years now, they hold up really well when double stitched.

Our school has a printing shop with a really nice embroidering machine so they do our bumpers as classwork, but you could take your fabric to any shop/stand/store that does embroidering and have them done. Personally, I think it’s better than iron on numbers and some other methods but I might be biased.
We have used iron-on/transfer thremocollant Dark T-shirt Transfers for the past few years. We purchase them at our local arts and craft store. Here is a link to the item at KMart -http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_1990000000084532P?sid=KDx01192011x000001&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=30-24239411-2
We print out the numbers and then iron them on the bumpers.
Materials needed are transfers, Ink Jet Printer, Scissors and Iron.
Has anyone ever used stencil cut white duck tape? Will they stay on? Or how about the inkjet iron on transfer paper cut out in shapes?
