Best Game of the Decade

Title says it all. We only have a little time left to look back before we plunge headfirst into 2020. I can’t really make a judgement because I only have been playing games for a year (though I really loved Spider-man PS4), and so I would like to know what others think.

I really love the forum game called Mimic, basically you go to another category and choose a thread that is about actual on topic stuff. You then go to the off topic category, and make the thread very similar however have it be completely unrelated to the original threads goal.

For example, if someone posted a “Best Game Of The Decade” post about FRC games. You would then go to the off topic thread and make a thread called “Best Game Of The Decade” that is about actual games.

Best non-VR game, probably Terraria (only because Minecraft was 2009).

Best VR game, definitely Beat Saber.

Minecraft officially released in 2012 tho

Actually, Minecraft 1.0.0 came out in November 2011.
Therefore it is part of this decade.
(Java edition only, Bedrock doesn’t have quasi connectivity or the ability to do whatever you like)

By far Fallout 4.

I am disappointed that Cory in The House for the Nintendo DS was released in 2008, otherwise this would be a no-brainer question.

I broke my picks down by genre since I couldn’t pick one:

  • Action-Adventure: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • 3D Platformer: Super Mario Odyssey (Honorable mention: Super Mario Galaxy 2)
  • 2D Platformer: Sonic Mania
  • Puzzle: Portal 2 (Honorable mention: Baba Is You)
  • eSports: Rocket League
  • Fighting: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Simulation: Kerbal Space Program
  • Physics Sandbox for Screwing Around in: BeamNG.Drive/Space Engineers
  • Party: Jackbox Party Pack (whole series, but not all individual games)
  • Rougelike: FTL: Faster Than Light
  • Racing: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed/Mario Kart 8

I’m sure people will disagree with this, but Subnautica should put very highly on this list. At least for me personally anyways.
