As worlds are coming up. We have seen our fair share of primary hybrid scorers but what was the best one you have seen?
5667, our 3rd robot at Buckeye, was a great hybrid cycling robot that gave us a huge advantage with their quick low cycles as us and 695 cycled the mid and high nodes.
According to statbotics, they have the most hybrid game pieces per match at 5.7
1923, MidKnight Inventors is second and 5934 Crowbotics is third.
9098 had an excellent bot! We loved watching them at Waterloo (and from home at District Championship).
Personally, I like how 4550 did this season.
1923 is amazing this season. They initially over-reached in their design, but a happy accident at Mount Olive got them to pivot and become one of, if not the fastest, cube bots I’ve seen. Two district wins and district champs finalists is an outstanding performance and really shows that teams don’t need to (and maybe, shouldn’t try to) do everything in the game at once. 1923’s pre-worlds EPA is 55.4—the highest of all teams scoring primarily hybrid nodes. They are the best cube scorer in the world, edging out 1778 by 0.3 cubes on average.
Being able to score so many cubes so fast is great and their swerve gives them great defensive potential if they run out of cycles. I expect them to make division playoffs at least, and maybe we might see Midknight on Einstein!
Team 2689 Team Alpha
Team 8749 Farmersville Robotics
Definitely the strongest rookie team I’ve ever seen here in Ontario. I hope they are able to go to worlds and stir up some trouble there with their flawless cycles and top tier scouting. They’ll be a team to look out for next year again I’m sure.
I’m sure I’ll remember the elims matches we played with them at DCMP for a very long time.
I gotta shoutout an amazing rookie team in the NE district. 9101 has amazed me so much and I’m very happy that they’ve had a successful first season. They received the Rookie Inspiration award at the NE District Championship. They’re a cube monster lol
1561 - ROBODUCKS were amazing at Green Country Regional.
Surprised not to see 8048 or 8793 on this list
9101
it may just be a chassis but it can balance in auto and fills at least 7-8 pieces of the lower grid with cubes per match
Along with 9101, 1922 was great (bending the rules a bit, they did shoot cubes).
1922 and 8023
5892… low and scary fast was our goal.
We felt rather underappreciated being passed over and declined despite being a top scoring team and alliance captain twice.
Anyway, enough moaning.
Team 329, our robot had a very cool sail design where we picked up any game piece anywhere on the floor “We averaged about 8-9 cones or cubes on the hydrid” we can also shoot cubes from any of the shelfs high or mid.
From my neck of the woods:
4550 2nd alliance captains and finalists at the Utah Regional
4418 Finalists at the Colorado Regional
Both super fast scoring robots, perfect to maximize the link points as quickly as possible. 4418 played some great defense too.
They are impressive just in the season improvement category. And they were speedy and simple in concept. It was funny the qual match when none of their partners could do cones, so when they filled all the hybrid/cube spots they maxed out score-wise and their opponent should have recognized that to focus on the endgame sooner. Instead, they ended up trying too late and handing the game back to RoboDucks .
Also, I’d have to add 4766 as another cube scorer that did quite well this year. Winner at two regionals.
9098 FTW! They have the best hybrid scoring stats per Statbotics, and were awesome to watch. They just kept on plugging away and did their thing. The consistency of their robot and routine allowed them to do extremely well, I hope they’ll be at CMP.
