118 can make 3 stacks of 6 from the landfill.
865 blew me away with their landfill prowess this weekend. Once they ironed out the bugs, they were one of the fastest landfill robots I’ve seen all year long; in person or on video.
Can anyone link videos of Blue Cheese in matches? I can’t seem to find any videos for 2015 other than their awesome CAD video.
If you do find match videos, try to find the elimination matches of it. My brother (driver) was still getting used to the systems speed since our prototype robot was a bit slower than our final. He was really in the zone by elimination matches. One of the things we plan to improve for Chesapeake is to add a system to allow us to be stable with 6 totes at a decent speed. The only issue is our can manipulator isn’t fast enough to do what we want, so we tend to rely on other team to cap and focus on stacking like a crazy. (+1 for 540 who did a fantastic job capping our alliances stack, we were so happy you were able to assemble the perfect alliance).
2338 impressed me at Wisconsin.
Part of the reason for that is that it is fully autonomous, up until this point it’s been too fast for it’s own good, but they finally have it to the point where they can hold onto it’s stacks long enough for them to place it on the scoring platform.
Here’s 1086, 540, and 4481 getting the VARI high score in SF 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TUtekD5-B0&feature=youtu.be
in the PNW, 1318 and 2471 I know are both pretty good, and my team gets better every time we play… I mean, 1114’s adequate from the landfill too…
you can see the stacking ability and the intake working. This was the first time our drivers touched this robot so you can see that we were a bit too fast. We also hadn’t figured out the right order to pull from the landfill.
The tools are there. By Saturday morning we had things under control.
Here is the highest score at va from a different angle. You can see us clean out the right side landfill, but the stack blocks the cameras view of the left half of the landfill.
Please do not tell us (unless they will join us of course), that Karthik was in awe of another Landfill Tote muncher (and to use language like better than he’s ever personally seen, is indeed scary)…Anything possibly faster than 1114’s Magical Mystery Machine would scare the pants off the rest of us out here out of wt. and true bot cheesecaking options (we can, but we refuse to take away from what we do have).
Searching 865 videos now.
We use the HP Station for 6 high capped stacks…So, actually to know that there are more than a few magical landfill tote munchers and stackers to possibly compliment, is actually a relief.
watchfirstnow.com has a lot of match video of them. they still had some issues with bin stability but otherwise they were so fast: http://watchfirstnow.com/archives/122867839
Thanks for the link Michael…I will.
OMG that video is so depressing… wow stacks everywhere…I though only Dallas did that.
Matches 57 and 62 are the ones of note. Match 57 shows us stacking 2 stacks of 6 and one of 5 without bins. For match 62 we were able to stack two stacks of 6 with a bin after adding a tab that stopped the bin from sliding forwards, but the bin wasn’t pushed far enough back for the tab to snap into place for the first stack, and therefore we lost the bin.
As for eliminations, we were having brownout issues that first match, which led to latency problems which caused us to lose our first stack and almost lose our second stack (after losing the bin on top… again…).
368 will be unveiling their robot on the field during Week 5 Hawaii.
Only the driver can prevent their robot from doing 3 capped 6-stacks from the landfill with time to spare.
With a smooth running swerve again, it makes being a landfill stacker that much more effective. They drop off stacks sideways like 1114 to cut down on the time to drop off capped stacks.
Being that this is their 1st event, I’m sure whatever bugs they may have will be solved by Saturday afternoon come eliminations.
They also orient cans up and down while driving.
Thanks for the kind words, Glenn. However, until proven in competition, it’s probably best not to raise expectations. We’re not as confident as you are, but again, thanks for the kind words.
From Florida I believe 744 Shark Attack deserves mention in this thread, they work both RC’s and totes from the landfill with ease.
Self-righteous, maybe, but I would like to throw TechFire 225 into this discussion. We’re purpose built for the landfill, and in week 3 at Springside-Chestnut hill we consistently made a little over two three-stacks with cans. We also scored 20 in auton a couple times and made the co-op stack. Right now in practice we’re making about two six-stacks with cans (or the equivalent in points).
