Best Ni Vision Error EVER!!!!!

We were doing some testing with ni vision assistant and we got this error

haha! Reminds me of something I’ve seen before: “To start up Windows, please restart Windows.” -Friend turning his computer on.

I got this same NI Vision Assistant error until I turned off the Windows Firewall. This is one case where it pays to read the little pop-up warning boxes when you started the application

And this is when you begin to bang your head against the wall.

My old computer after POST:
Searching for Hard disk…
No drive found…
Aborting start up…
(windows starts)

Decided not to fix it because it seemed to work just fine

My favorite error that I get on occasion:

Me: From Windows, I shut down my computer.

Windows (during shutdown): “An error has occurred, you must shut down your computer. Press OK to continue.”

Me: I MUST shut down!?! That’s what I was trying to do! How about just shutting the $%^$ thing down instead of interrupting the process to tell me that I need to shut down when I was already trying to do that! **&$ #&#, $#(*#$!!!

(I love Windows :))

It’s funny you mention funny error messages…

Last semester, I was in my Digital System Design class (DSD), where we have to write Verilog code for a Spartan 3E FPGA board, the Basys2.

The software that we use is called Xilinx.

(Hopefully some of this is somewhat familiar to you guys, you use a Spartan 6 in the cRIO, and you have some Xilinx tools installed if you installed all of the FIRST software)

Anyway, a lot of the warnings/errors thrown when err… building (Really called Synthesizing, Translate, Map, and Place & Route) are poorly written.

Such as:
“WARNING:Route:455 - CLK Net:i_clkdiv/clkout may have excessive skew because”

Because… the ultimate excuse behind anything.

I know one of my other friends got an error along the lines of “ERROR: This process has run into an error because there was an error.”

When I worked as a Field Service Engineer for GE Medical systems, we had access to proprietary service manuals that only we had access to. They gave us the explanation of what the error codes meant and gave suggested causes and actions to take to resolve he problem.
One of the “Suggested actions” for a particular error code said,

“Call service”.

Wait, what? I am Service! I need to call myself?

My Favorite:

On boot “Keyboard not detected: Press F1 to continue”
