Best of the West

Hey guys just wondering who are the west coast teams that you believe are going to do the best this year(2010).

Just wondering what teams to look out for.

(also try not to post your own team :P)

2 Teams that do good year to year are the Cheesy Poofs 254, and the High Rollers 987.

Other great teams include The Wildhats 100, The Penguineers 1717 and 115 MVRT.

We like to think of ourselves as good because we do well each year, but we’ve yet to win a regional.

I see the beachbots, team 330, doing good as always.

368, 1280, 488, 192, 1388, 1538, 604. Are consistantly top notch teams.

1868, 971, 973, and 668 are up and coming.

There’s also that one team from San Jo… forgot the number…

100 has a long history of failure and a short history of success

968 anybody? They’ve consistently got a bead on 1st.

Never count 980 or 294 out of eliminations. 207 has found their stride recently; they can do well.

As for the best teams in a given region, if you really want to know, look at the Fantasy First drafts for those regionals. Now remove any team that is from out of the area. See who is up near the top of the draft consistently, or gets snapped up if dropped from an alliance. Those teams are the consistently dangerous ones.

1318 and 1983

Fantasy First???

Start with the second sticky. Also note that most of the drafts are for the Season Long league, which has finished drafting (and if any players in that league read this, check your teams when you get the chance).

Should you want to start your own league, go right ahead and do so. The more leagues, the merrier.

Thank you very much.

and i believe 1717 and 330 are the teams im expecting to see shine

The IRS, Skunkworks, XBots, 360, NRG, and a few others always stand out in Seattle.

But this year I’m predicting big strides for some of last year’s great rookie teams… I wouldn’t be surprised to see some real innovation from a second year team in Seattle this year.

So my prediction is that we’ll all be going “wow” over a team we really know little about… so far.

Just look at which teams Manchester selected to be beta test teams. You’ll see the same team numbers listed above. These teams have year long programs and serious budgets. They build full size fields and multiple robots. Any team that can compete with the likes of 330, 1717 or cheesypoofs to name a few is doing a really good job on all aspects of the challenge that is FIRST.
Now who’s going to be at the Harvey Mudd scrimage:rolleyes:

Although I may be biased as a fellow farm animal, I enjoy seeing 1538 compete. 254 always as well. We’ll be going to Denver for the first time this year. I’m looking forward to some fresh faces, not that Las Vegas wasn’t awesome :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t count out 842 and 1726. I mean, those are the only teams in the West I hear about, but they’ve got pretty big plans and bold robots. 842 in particular has a gutsy machine.

Where is 399 on this list? They rocked last year, making it all the way to a finalist on Curie.

Another question: Who is the dark horse west coast team this year? Any surprises?

Thanks for the mention, however we didn’t make it all the way to Einstein last year. We were close and even took 217, 247, and 68 to 3 matches, but in the end we were Curie finalists.
