Hey Everyone!! I saw that everyone is posting on here bragging about their team’s robot so I figured I would do the same!
Here are some of our Specs:
Effective Conveyor System that holds 6 balls
Ability to go under the 30 inch bar and over the ramp
Speed: I have ‘guestimated’ about 6 ft/sec. At the Philly regional we could beat almost every team to their black ball.
Defensive Ability: We ‘tuck’ down into a 30 inch high solid alum. frame and can go underneath most any robot hanging on the bar or ram them and knock them off. We didn’t have any matches in Philly that we couldn’t park on the ramp at the end.
Offensive: Our conveyor is very effective at picking up off the ground and also at human player loading.
We got the best offensive round award at philly with a score of 37-to-19. In this match we also scored alot for the other alliance also.
One more thing to throw in… WE CAN HANG!!!

P.S. I AM JUST CURIOUS IF ANYONE HAS BEATEN OUR BEST OFFENSIVE ROUND RECORD OF 37-TO-19 ???

P.P.S. Check out the link…If you want to see pictures of our robot in action at the Philly Regional.

37-19 is a great score. I don’t recall Chief Delphi ever having such a high score (match points not qualifying points), but I can’t be sure.

I think that Motorola Wildstang scored in the high thirties a few times in Chicago while their opponent scored in the high twenties.

Also, one of the last qualifying matches had Team Hammond (a.k.a. Beatty) losing a match thirty something to thirty something. As Bill and Brian tell it, they had the match won but for a last minute fall (off the bar or the ramp – can’t recall) by their alliance partner. I am sorry that I missed that match!

Any other high scoring rounds? Do tell.

P.S. I am watching the CA Regional as I type this. After 7 rounds the #1 seed has something like 35 Q-points per match. Team #60, Ford & Kingman H.S., is in the lead with a pretty effective basket and hanger.

There seem to be a LOT of robots playing defense. Many 7 to 6 rounds. A few 10 - 0 rounds. I even saw a 0 to 0 round. Seems like a pretty tough neighborhood.

I will be glad to switch to NASA TV from this chop realvideo webcast tomorrow.

We were paired with Beatty-Hammond during our last qualifying match at the Midwest Regional. Brian & I agreed that we would go for as many points as possible… for our team and our opponent (but still win, of course). We got 8 balls from the HP and hung, with plenty of room for opponents robots to hang also.

Beatty, in the mean time, was collecting balls left and right, dumping them in both goals. Where we messed up was underestimating that BOTH of our opponents had room to hang. With three on the bar, the fine Beatty-Hammond machine didn’t quite have room to be on the ramp. It turned out that we were about 6 inches away from a 36-31 win!

Andy,

Not being involved directly I wasn’t paying as much attention as I might have to Brian & Bill Beatty’s account. Thanks for the better retelling. No slur against your team intended when I (mistakenly) credited Hammond’s alliance partner with losing the match

Anyway, 31 points is still a boat load of Q-points. In fact, it was more than many teams got when the WON! Great job.

By the way, where would an extra 108 Q-points have put you in the rankings? A lot higher I recon. Maybe next time.

You guys made a great partner. It would have been a 36 to 35 win with 105 QP! All we had to do was get on the ramp. We missed by no more then a few inches with one wheel. There was room, we just ran out of time. I hope we get a chance to try it again together in Florida.

Congratulations to the winners of that match - it was obviously well deserved. We had the highest scoring match of the Midwest Regional until your match beat us about 3 matches after ours. Us (308 - TRW / Walled Lake) and 135 (Penn HS) beat the HOT Team (67 - GM and Milford) and 144 (Procter and Gamble) with a final score of 33 - 29. Then your match happened. Oh well - it was a great competition and there were a LOT of good, high scoring matches in the Qualifying rounds. I can’t wait to see what the scores are like at the nationals.

At the kennedy regional we had two rounds where we won big. one with 20 and another with 23 I don’t remeber our scores but they were probably in the thirties.

good luck to all Epcot!

Although I do not now remember the make-up of the alliances during our last match of day 1 at the UTC New England Regional, BUZZ - Team 175 and our alliance partner racked up 33 match points with the opposing alliance doing 31 points.

With those qualifying points, BUZZ was able to end, what had started as a slow day in the teens and twenties, up in third place at the end of the day. What a way to get PSYCHED for tomorrow.

Thanks to all the great teams and matches in Hartford. We will wait and see what tomorrow will bring!!!

Looking forward to seeing the other machines and teams at EPCOT next week.

That was a great round!!! I was driving for Team 177 in that round, just battling it out for the bar was some of the most fun I had all week!!! Another robot was hanging on the bar so we had to go over them to hang. Got to our hanging position wiht about 2 seconds to spare. We all started celebrating cause we thought we had it won. We took the time to count out the balls (the troughs were both completely full) and we realized we were down by 2. Great round Buzz!!!
