Seriously? Dickey’s BBQ? The nationwide chain that is totally mediocre in every way?
Dinasour BBQ as well
And comon lets face it, when in Rochester-Nick Tahou’s, mic drop.
Just don’t go over there after dark.
it IS Alabama…
In Duluth there is a lot of food options in Canal park. Grandma’s is the local icon and been around forever. I do believe that is where the social usually is. My wife and I have been eating at Bellisio’s the past couple of years and have liked it there. We will have to take the trip up the shore to the New Scenic Cafe - those scallops on their menu sound good.
It’s not food but I would suggest a visit to the Clayton, Jackson & McGhie memorial on the other side of the highway from the DECC.
In Minneapolis the regionals are on a college campus so it’s more fast food/chains. The iconic place was the Big 10 sub shop (where they have been stuffing jocks and athletic supporters for years) but they closed that down to build a Walgreens. I am thinking Annie’s Parlour is probably the new campus icon restaurant. The BW3 nearby is in the Station 19 firehouse - it’s a chain but the building has a lot of history.
For the WPI District event I’m gonna have to go with Boomer’s. Amazing subs (hot or cold). They also have burgers and some other stuff going on. It’s a small place with a hefty wait time but it’s 100% worth it. My go to meal is the Rockin Moroccan.
I will add more to this post when I think of other delicious eateries.
Also applies to when DCMP rolls into CT.
Bear’s is Legit. It rivals some Texas BBQ joints, seriously. Get the moink balls.
For teams going to New York you’d probably recommend Sbarros as a great local place?
University of Waterloo District
- Mel’s Diner - The perfect greasy diner for a late night meal or all-day breakfast. Great atmosphere.
- The Bombshelter - Literally steps from the venue; so close that you can stop by in between matches. Geared towards students, so it’s super cheap but surprisingly good. Like Mel’s, the atmosphere is what really makes this place; it’s a true slice of university life.
- The Fritter Co. - It’s a short drive from campus, but totally worth it. These apple fritters kind of melt in your mouth and turn into a gooey mouthful of perfection.
-
Sweet Dreams Tea Shop - I can’t go to Waterloo and not have Bubble Tea. There’s a place on Campus where you can get some, but it’s worth the short walk to University Plaza to get the better stuff from Sweet Dreams.
*]Mongolian Grill - It’s almost always too crowded and it’s kind of overrated, but I still come here every time I’m back in Waterloo. Unlimited make your own stir-fry. Always a fun experience trying your own recipes and making something as spicy as possible.
If teams are looking for a food spot after Waterloo’s Thursday night load in, Mortys has their wing special that night. I’ve not been in years, but it used to be our wings place.
There’s good BBQ in Alabama. Multiple places in Huntsville that are worth a trip.
I didn’t even realize Dickie’s is a chain, I’ve only ever seen the one. To be fair, I’m a transplant, BBQ isn’t really my category.
Chuck Wagon is pretty good. Honestly a lot of our best BBQ are a few little local food trucks, but they’re hard to find if there’s not an event going on. Gibson’s is solid. The rest of my list though. XD
Hands down my favorite bar in CT (prefer it over Elm City Social too).
Highly recommend this.
Miami Valley Regional:
W.O. Wrights Bar and Grill
Hands down THE best place to go…
Absolutely kidding- dont go here with high school students this is your standard college bar that our entire team wondered into since it was close to our hotel:eek:
We always hit up the Dayton waffle house here but there is a bunch of other chain places to eat.
Greater Pittsburgh Regional
We usually eat at the Park Inn hotel on Thursdays and pizza in the lobby area on Fridays with 4027 and sometimes 144

Sensing a trend here…
I don’t see it
As an American who eats way too much poutine every time I’m in Canada, yes yes yes yes.
As a displaced Canuck, I am very jealous. I have found one place in Houston that serves poutine but they don’t use cheese curds
Topper’s Pizza is a must for Ventura
