Best Possible Teleop Cycle

The title of Best Teleop Cycle in last season’s Charged Up belongs to 254, The Cheesy Poofs.

What will be this season’s Best Possible Teleop Cycle?

In my estimation:

  1. Touch and go, consistent and easy Ground Note Intake.
  2. Very quick swerve drivetrain on a low and maneuverable robot.
  3. Ability to very quickly shoot or drop Notes in the Amp, consistently and undisturbed by other robots.
  4. Ability to score multiple Notes in the Speaker in 10 seconds. Alone, consistently, without disturbance from other robots, from dynamic positions.

Is Best Possible Teleop Cycle a subjective or objective thing? Is this purely a time based thing? Not sure how anyone would know this without scouting thousands of matches.

If were guessing Fastest Teleop Cycle this year, assuming its from source acquisition to speaker scoring, my guess is it’ll be a low robot that can shoot a shot at max range. But again, that same robot might not hit everyone of those further shots so not really sure how it matters.

The best teleop cycles aim for a 6 note throughput every 10 seconds as an alliance. That’s a bit tough to do, even at Kraken speeds with robots that completely consume their batteries every match.

The only object that might move faster than a high speed swerve is a note, and it takes less battery power to do so. Leveraging that fact is tough, but it’s at least worth experimenting with if you’re not designing a high speed swerve right on the limits of battery capacity.
