Best Robot Movie Ever Made?

So which robot movie is the best one you have seen in your opinion?

Wall-E

The Iron Giant

The Terminator [Series]([(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdFuv3tnZh4)

Transformers

Or any other film that you think is worthy of consideration (I’m waiting for the write campaign for Saturn 3)*](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8mHTSki-Rg) (I’ll even let you include the rmovie ride at Universal)
)

My vote goes for the very underrated and under appreciated Iron Giant.
If you didn’t get chocked up at the end. You don’t have a soul.

Nothing beats Robot Jox :stuck_out_tongue: “Crash and Burn.”

I’m saying the Iron Giant. Brings back great memories. That was the first, and possibly the only, movie that made me cry. In my defense, I was six.

My vote was crossed between WallE and Short Circuit. Went with WallE, that film just touched my heart for the first time in a very long time. With that said, I’m a very proud owner of Short Circuit, and if you have not seen it…stop what you are doing right now and go watch it.

Mine, of course!

Oh…seriously…I don’t know how to compare them.

I’d say Wall-e is my favorite… But The Iron Giant and Short Circuit are timeless classics.

Others:
-Batteries not Included
-Metropolis (The anime & and the cheesy original)

Transformers gets my vote. I cant wait for the second one to come out.

You can only take so many chances with Micheal Bay.

Who said anything about Michael Bay?

I don’t know if this is supposed to make me feel any better.

Oh come on guys! Have you forgotten ALL the classics?

Forbidden Planet - the premiere of Robby The Robot, perhaps the greatest and most prolific movie robot character of all time.

Metropolis - Fritz Lang’s classic. Possibly the most influential science fiction and robotics movie ever made.

Runaway - Gene Simmons as a better Doctor Evil than Mike Meyer. The little acid-spitting spider-bots are like Hexbugs on steroids.

Eve Of Destruction - When this robot gets ticked off, you don’t want to be in the neighborhood.

THX-1138 - George Lucas’ first full film, adapted from one of his early student film projects. Think of “Logan’s Run” done with robots.

Silent Running - Huey, Dewey, and Louie give Bruce Dern a run for his money. Oh yeah, and they kicked his behind at poker.

Westworld - Yul Brenner with a fake face and a six-gun. What could be better?

And probably the best of them all - The Day The Earth Stood Still. I mean, who can forget Gort?

I was just talking about this movie with my family last night.
The thing that bothered me about this (and why I STILL haven’t finished watching this movie after about 3 attempts) is that since it’s a classic movie, & thus a silent movie, there is a lot of reading while watching the movie.
Something about my ADD self can’t sit still long enough through ANY completely dubbed movie movie to read it all (without falling asleep all 3 times I’ve attempted it with this movie, & a bunch of other time with other movies).
I really wish this movie was not necessarily remade, but re-edited just with the addition of an actual speech track over it.

Oh wells.
Maybe one of these days I’ll see it in it’s entirety.

What about Blade Runner? Since it’s based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, then it’s a robot movie and it’s one of my all time favorites.

p.s. Interesting Metropolis note: they’ve found missing footage!

That’s the first one that came to mind when I saw the poll question.

**Johnny 5 **thats all I will say

Remake alert!

That would be “Short Circuit” (already on the poll). For an interesting trivia tidbit, ask some of the longer-term mentors of Team 118 where “Johnny 5” (at least, one of the five units actually made for the movie) is today…

I’ve only seen WALL-E and Robots of those choices, but WALL-E is my new favorite movie, replacing even the childhood favorite The Great Mouse Detective.

Are we counting all inanimate objects in the “Robot movie” mix?

The Brave Little Toaster anyone? :stuck_out_tongue:
