It’s official. Last week, Robot’s had the best week ever.
(you have to actually see the show, but they showed footage of the DARPA thing and some sony demos – no FIRST )

Umm well watching VH1’s Best Week Ever right now, they were cutting to commercial and it said “You may have been built by high school students robots” and showed a quick clip of a competiton which I believe was a FIRST regional of Rack n’ Roll (there were definately a lot of innertubes) so…
had a massive freakout why isn’t anyone else around to see this attack
I totally saw that same clip of FIRST robotics on Best Week Ever today on VH1. I don’t think they gave any details, didn’t even call it FIRST or say much beyond that it was robots made by high school students. Very odd thing to see on VH1 none the less.
I saw that too, what a weird clip. My little sister was watching the show and said “Hey! Those were FIRST robots.” I watched the rest of the episode hoping that there would be more than just the 5-second clip, but alas. It’s very odd that they would put that in there. It makes me think that they had intended to do a bigger segment but ended up only showing that one little part. The footage had to come from somewhere.
Any publicity is good publicity, even if it is just a five second clip.
Anyone know what teams were in the clip?
I FREAKED OUT when I saw it. I watched the show again to see if I could catch any team numbers. I did: 449. Does anyone know which regional that was?
It’s very exciting to see FIRST enter the culture like that.
I recorded it on my DVR and asked around about which event.
I gather it was from the Chesapeake Regional.
Going frame by frame, I can clearly see team numbers 768 and 449.
Haha, I recorded on my VCR too Pat! I just… didn’t… look at it (It can’t go that slow) Pretty Sweet though!
you can watch it on v-spot http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/best_week_ever/series.jhtml
it is the episode from March 27th. there is a teaser at timecode 12seconds left in the first video
We invited a local tv reporter to cover the Chesapeake Regional and he put together a great piece. Looks like their station is owned by Viacom, so maybe the folks at BWE did a search of station archives for cool stuff and found the piece. Here is the link to the entire 90 second video: http://wjz.com/video/[email protected]
LOL! This is awesome!
