I appreciate that any business is willing to support robotics teams, and I wish you the best with this fundraiser, for the team’s sake.
However, I want to point out that this business is a front for selling Herbalife products. Herbalife is a predatory Multi-level Marketing company (aka a pyramid scheme). The company’s marketing practices prey on vulnerable populations like low-income families and single mothers, often driving them into unrecoverable debt while promising riches and wealth. MLMs rely on lies and deceit to build their profits, and those that relate to health (like Herbalife) are usually deeply intertwined with pseudoscience.
Herbalife also causes more than just economic damage. The products the company produces are connected to multiple health concerns, including liver damage. HERBALIFE® ASSOCIATED SEVERE HEPATOTOXICITY IN A PREVIOUSLY HEALTHY WOMAN - PMC.
In the future, I would suggest vetting your sponsors to ensure they don’t promote harmful practices and products (but I don’t blame you for taking the opportunity without knowing).
If this information causes you to cancel your fundraiser with this company, I will personally donate $150 to the team. I don’t want you or anyone else on the team to feel pressured to cancel a lucrative opportunity, and I would feel awful if you wanted to cancel but couldn’t due to financial concerns.

was really hoping for a magic smoke flavor…
I would also submit that we did a similar fundraiser with a Herbalife front in our town a couple years back, and by the time that we were to collect our money, that the business had closed and hadn’t been paying their landlord rent either, so we didn’t see a dime.

This may be because the average Herbalife front business loses 12 thousand dollars per year, and Herbalife doesn’t foot the bill for any of it. All of that debt is placed on the person running the store.

Ideally, jokes that are in bad taste shouldn’t be posted on CD. I have some blue nitrile here, and just took a taste, to see. It is bad. Yep.
I think the caveats Aidan, Siri, and Nelson offered should be taken seriously. I will match Aidan and Siri’s offers to help buy you out.
