Blue Rose 6553 Old team Old parts All Rookie Members|Roboticus

I’m assuming @6553 is working with you on that, yes? He’s the one that will have the login info. You may also need to contact HQ for assistance; usually they’re pretty quick (even occasionally on the weekends).

If you can’t, Neos (of both V1.1 and Vortex varieties) are available from REV.

Yes we will try again on Sunday and I believe we are currently looking to use some neos from other teams in the area that aren’t in use

Keep in mind that FIRST Choice Round 2 closes on monday. I highly recommend he try to get in sooner. For the record, the firstchoice login is your team number and the password accessible only to the two lead coaches on the team. They can log in to their FIRST Dashboard and access it under Team Options → Payment & Product → Passwords/Voucher Codes. On that page, theyll see an entry marked “FIRST Choice password”

If he continues having issues, please describe the issues in as much detail as possible and we might be able to help work through it. Not sure you’ll get an answer from HQ/support on the weekend, and waiting til monday may be too late.

ETA: there are other vouchers/freebies available on that page that are definitely worth looking into as well. Pretty sure this is a @Karthik ism, but never leave free money unclaimed!

Just adding, I’ve seen mention of programming a few times in this thread, but no links to the holy grail of FRC Software documentation: FIRST Robotics Competition Control System — FIRST Robotics Competition documentation

Highly recommend following the Zero to Robot series on there. It’ll help get all your components wired properly, get software tools installed properly, get your device firmware/images all up to date, and get an example project created and deployed to the robot!

The rest of the docs on there go through how to use the libraries to program the robot to do what you want to do. I recommend avoiding the advanced topics until you have everything else squared away (which might mean waiting til after your event).

As has already been said several times, you definitely have a hill to climb, but you’re in great shape with that workshop and all the other stuff leftover from the old team (though some organizing will go a long way).

Yes thank you so much I’m like 60% sure we just forgot the password maybe.

Mr. E.,

You have some very passionate and excited kids here. Looks like the resources are in a good spot for them to really grow over the next few seasons.

Stick with them, I am sure they and you will do an excellent job. :v:

We do have current population problem with recruiting people at the moment and the investment they have in this so major that needs to rectified over the offseason.

Although our school does have overpopulation problems maybe people just aren’t interested. Let’s do hope we get a new wave of freshman robotics students (which I know at least I’ll get a handful from my middle school FLL)

I would not recommend falcons, given it is almost impossible to find them these days.

I would not worry about this for now. Just focus on getting the robot to the state that @ericH and @skyehawk have been talking about. Once the season is over, you can start thinking about getting on new members

Yeah, i would NOT buy any new ones of these to be clear. But if another team gives you a box of parts, falcons > neos.

That is certainly a take. For a restarting team with not much institutional knowledge, having to deal with falcon qc issues(there’s many) seems like an unnecessary burden for a team that’s already going to have a bunch of growing pains its first year.

I’d much rather take the rock-solid Neos and not worry if my motors are going to blow up on me. You’d maybe sacrificing a tiny bit of performance, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay for reliability.

Yeah, I can see that. I kinda forgot we had a pretty extensive repair/upgrading campaign and thus had no (manufacturer induced) issues thereafter.

Yeahhh I dont think I am going to have time for that just maybe.

Just don’t get Falcons (should be easy enough) and you’re not going to need to make time for that repair run.

The other brushless motors are not nearly as “troubled” as the Falcon 500 motors were.
