Bosch Drill Motor Mounting

Does anyone have any ideas on how a Bosch drill motor could be mounted without keeping it in it’s plastic casing? I’m preferably looking for a relativly cheap way that doesn’t involve serious machining. Thanks!

U could look in the White Papers section for some ideas from my team (Andy Baker)-45…although these are not easy to make they could set off an idea that would be…

well all you need to do is just some pieces of aluminum plate thats thick enough to put a bolt through and tap. Then u cut them into squares. Then cut out the shapes of the drill for every few inches or so, kinda like if you were to draw the motor in a 3d modeling prgram, then put some planes through it and cut the shape of the motor at that spot out of the plane. Then you cut them in half and bolt it all together and viola. Another thind is take a big block of aluminum and just mill out the shape diameter of the motor and then another for the transmission and use bolts like a set screw to hold it in.

The students on our OCCRA (Oakland County Competitive Robotics Association) team this year are mounting the gear boxes by trapping the four tabs on the gearboxes between pieces of angle aluminum. There seems to be a lot of hand fitting (filing and such) involved but so far they have held up pretty well. This mounting requires that the output shaft be supported in two places and constrained axially.
