Bridge Radio Not Connecting-Orange Signal Light

I’ve been trying to get a frc bridge radio working using the instructions:

https://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/4485/m/13503/l/144986-programming-your-radio-for-home-use

but the wifi signal light always shows up as orange instead of green. The wifi shows up and I am able to connect to it with the driver station laptop, but am unable to run robot code on the laptop. I’m following the instructions on the site exactly and I’ve tried it on 3 different bridges, including a brand new one, but the light shows up as orange on all of them. How do I get it green (bridge mode, linked)?

Thanks.

Well, you shouldn’t be able to connect to the your radio’s wifi if it is in bridge mode. In bridge mode, the robot will connect to the wifi that you set up in the Radio Configuration tool. If you truly want to put the radio in bridge mode, make sure you select “Bridge” in the “Mode” dropdown. However, if all you are looking to do is upload code to run on the robot, then I would recommend setting the radio up as an access point. (Select “2.4 GHz Access Point” in the “Mode” dropdown). This will allow you to connect to the radio’s wifi directly without an external router.

First of all, you posted this in the subforum for problems with the ChiefDelphi website, so you probably won’t get as much help as if you posted this in a programming or electronics subforum.

Now to address your question, I have a few questions:

  1. Did you program the radio for home use using the programming tool since your last competition?
  2. Can you ping the radio (10.TE.AM.1) from the computer?
  3. Can you ping the robot (10.TE.AM.20 or roborio-TEAM-FRC.local)?
  4. Does the driver station show communication with the roborio?
  5. Does the driver station show a radio link?
  6. If you go to the roborio web dashboard (roborio-TEAM-FRC.local in internet explorer on a computer with silverlight) can you see the webdash or do you get an error page?
  7. If you plug into the radio directly via Ethernet do you get communication?
  8. If you plug into the roborio directly via Ethernet do you get communication?
  9. If you plug into the roborio directly via USB B do you get communication?

Answering those questions will help us help you.

I’ve moved the thread to an appropriate subforum, so OP, don’t worry about it this time, it’s taken care of. No need to repost or anything.
