What teams out of all u have seen have a good chance in Atlanta…
From what I’ve personally watched I think BBS (16) has a real chance of being in a winning alliance. Can say for sure that they will be alliance captain, haven’t been one yet but still they are a great team player and quick and focused in what they do.
I’m putting my bet on an alliance between 233, 522, and 1114 from Curie Division. All three are in the top 5 for the SCAM rankings that some people have been calculating out in other threads(search for SCAM if you want to see the other threads, there are quite a few) and 233 & 522 have already won a regional together (with the UK team as the 3rd alliance member) without losing a single match in the elimination rounds. I seriously doubt that all 3 will be together but I have a feeling by the time everything is said and done, two of those will be together. Whoever gets higher in the seedings will pick one of the two and the other will either be in the top 8 and pick their own alliance or will be picked in the first round by the rest of the top 8. All three bots have performed really well individually as well as in alliances. I’m not positive cuz anything can happen, but I’d say that you will at least see these teams headed for the gold in the curie division elimination rounds if not on the final stage.
(these are my opinions so if you don’t like them, post your own and we can argue peacefully, don’t go bashing on me just cuz i think pink ownz )
all of them…nationals holds alot of changes and the way that the game is played is different from the regional…the robots that won by just hanging every match wont nessicerily do well at nationals…you have to remember that everyone has played once, seen the problems with their bots and has probably come up with ways to fix them by now and for this reason i say that everyone has a good chance…
i agree, team 233 is very good, but i don’t know if i’d go putting urself on a pedestal that high, yet…anything can happen. anyway i definetly like 16, 71, 111, 233, 237, or 1114 taking home the title…oh and team 11 (gotta throw us into the mix)
I aggree.
I think 71 really has a chance at thier forth national win this year. They have a very strong robot. Also 27 has a great robot. ::Shameless plug:: I think if 93 gets allied with a team (ie. 27) who can cap really well, we could all the way. But like Greg said, all the teams could win. Will find out what happens.
Good Luck.
I like 93 a lot too. They were fun to watch in St. Louis. I was hoping to see them with 16 for SLR finals but they would work well with several other good cappers. They are good with the small balls and if I remember right had a fairly decent HP. I’m sure better now than at SLR. Matched with a good capper - 1108 best capper at LSR - and another good HP - ours only missed 5 one day- they should do good. I wouldn’t count Gallileo out.
I’m gonna say, 190 - I think they’ll perfect what they do down in atlanta, and there will be no way to beat them without a doubler on your goal.
469 - Watch out, they could become better than 571.
175 - They have alot of potential and have been overlooked. Now their time to shine.
571 - If they decide to re-attach the hook (I doubt they will) they’ll be unstoppable.
Well, I am quite fond of that really nice ball collecting robot from Team #33, I would say that if they were paired up in a good alliance that they may do some good.
I’m sorry if that came off as arrogant, it wasn’t meant that way. I was just saying who all I thought had a good chance from what I had seen, it just happened that my team was doing pretty well at the regionals so I figured they will probably continue to be competitive at Nats. It could go any way at any time due to robots breaking (like at our UCF regional) or other circumstances. I definitely think that if we have any chance of winning at all it sure isn’t by ourselves, we are always looking for great allies that are as good or better than us (like 522, u guys rock)and we always like some good competition too. Sorry if it came off wrong. Hope to see you all there for some great matches and fun in Atlanta on Thursday!
impossible to tell at this point. unlike in the past frew years, there is no one unstoppable strategy this year that can guarantee a unique robot the win. the only one i have even seen close to doing this is 190, yet i think that alone not even they can carry it all the way.
190’s strategy is only “unstopable” when:
A. They don’t fall over. (They have a high CG)
B. They have a partner who can play good defense.
D. They bar blockers actually deploy. (Although this was probably just abuse in NH)
C. They aren’t facing a bot so good with small balls that the doubler is irrelevant. The bar is only 50 several teams can beat that with small balls every round.
There is no “perfect strategy” this year. I liken this game to rock paper scissors, every stragey has one that beats it. There is a lot of luck in the mix as well. That’s why I love this year’s game.
Like many other successful teams, our strategy somewhat relys on being picked by (or hopefully picking) an alliance that complements our skills. Alone, we probably couldn’t win.
As for other teams I think will do well, I am a big fan of teams that can get to the bar in autonomous mode. I think the winnining alliance will include at least one. I haven’t seen many competitions, but I know that 484 could do it in Philly (when their hook didn’t fall off). If they get the bugs worked out, I can see them being a very dominant team.
Oh, and don’t worry, we’ll have most of the tipping and shield problems fixed by Friday.
I think 254 will win… They have one 2 regionals and are due to win a National Championship

Someone please correct me if any of this info is incorrect, but I’m pretty sure it’s all right.
In (2002), team (66) started of the season at Great Lakes, but where unable to take home either gold, nor silver. At their next regional, however, they got all the way to finals, and ended up with silver. Their robot’s true potential was shown at nationals, where they took home the championship title.
In (2003), team (65) started of the season at Great Lakes, but where unable to take home either gold, nor silver. At their next regional, however, they got all the way to finals, and ended up with silver. Their robot’s true potential was shown at nationals, where they took home the championship title.
In (2004), team (67) started of the season at Great Lakes, but where unable to take home either gold, nor silver. At their next regional, however, they got all the way to finals, and ended up with silver…
It will be really freaky if they win, but I wouldn’t be suprised.
not true…team 67 won the cleveland regional with team 340 and 1126
Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Thanks for the correction. Still, they got second at West Michigan, which is the same one we got second at two years ago. Regardless, I’d say they have a good chance at the national title.
i am not disputing that because 67 is one of the best robots i have seen this year
