Gather round, gather round ye gracious professionals of Chief, let me tell you a story of a “special” team, our team, The Zebracorns. A team that accomplished what none had ever before, controlled a robot entirely using the Robot Operating System (ROS). But such a legend is not so simple to be posted on a forum for old white guys and high school nerds.
Nay, this must be played on a stage, where you can hear our motivation for implementing ROS, the specific application within the FIRST Robotics Competition, and our ambitions for the future of ROS within the FRC community. And I promise you that our performers will be committed to the act, including ridiculous costumes. (I mean, really, who would ever seriously wear zebra-striped pants?!?!)
Nine-Hundred Productions prides itself in producing works appropriate for all ages, from rookie teams to the under 1000s. Come on down as we cover some of the basics of the software, provide our solutions to the most challenging problems we encountered, and give the audience both an understanding of the framework and launching point for investigating the software for their own team.
Take a peek at .bag files, and this one is not disappearing next year. Best of all, if your luck is a bit better than a certain triple digit team at NC district champs, then you may win an NVIDIA Jetson Nano, presented by Marshall himself (Who’s Marshall?). So please, join us at 9:30AM on Thursday, April 18 at the Houston Championship, in room 370CF. (Because what else are we gonna do? compete?)
