It’s been a quiet summer, but now that school is back in session we have some Brunswick Eruption updates to share:

Team Registration/Wait List
As of today, Brunswick Eruption has reached its maximum capacity of 42 teams. The full team list can be found here. We’ve got a good mix of teams from both within and outside of MAR.

Teams who might still be interested in attending can continue to fill out the registration form on the BE website. Those who do will be placed on a wait list on a first-come, first-served basis.

Kumu (Mentor/Teacher) Award - Nomination Form Open!
Each year we honor one extraordinary mentor/teacher who goes above and beyond the call of duty for his or her team. Starting today, students can submit a short, 600 word essay nominating one of their team’s mentors via this form. All entries must be received no later than 11:59PM EST on October 31, 2014.

Hoku (Star) Award
We are excited to announce that the Hoku Award will be returning for the third year in a row. The Hoku Award offers a $1,000 sponsorship to the team whose students give the best five minute business pitch to a panel of judges. More details are available on the BE website.

Finally, if anyone is interested in volunteering at the event, be sure to sign up online at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/volunteer before October 3rd.

Aloha teams!

An email blast was sent out last night to all registered team contacts. Included was the BE13 Team Information Packet, which contains all of the most up-to-date information about next weekend’s event, including:

  • The event schedule

  • Robot drop-off instructions

  • Aerial Assist rule changes

  • Award descriptions

  • Workshop details

  • T-shirt sale information

and more.

Speaking of awards, the deadline for the Kumu (Mentor) Award](Kumu Award Submission) has been extended to November 6th. We’ve already received some great nominations, but wanted to give teams a bit more time to submit without interfering with any Halloween festivities.

Finally, anyone who registered as a volunteer via our website should have received a confirmation email from our volunteer coordinator with information about their assigned position. Please reply to Nathalie to confirm your attendance and be sure to fill out the included volunteer lunch order form!

Team 2601 is providing rookie team 5599 with some resources for Brunswick Eruption. They need bumpers that fit an AM14U long chassis, which we can provide (but they don’t have the correct numbers, and we only have 1 of each color).

Can any team coming furnish 5599 with either the old bumper cover, or a set of bumpers entirely?

Will there be a webcast again this year?

Looks like a great event! Too bad it is 5000 miles away :ahh:

I was wondering why so much Hawaiian? Awards and I noticed the Honu in your avatar logo.

You stay from here?

Aloha nui loa!

Of course! This year we’re beta testing MAR’s new HD video streaming setup.

Watch on our website: http://be.raiderrobotix.org/webcast/

Hoku Award, sponsored by Timothy Maguire: 694

In their pursuit of the Hoku Award, one team made particularly strong ambassadors. Not only did they travel to China to assist with the China Robotics Challenge, but they even arranged to sponsor 4 Chinese teams on a return trip to New York City. These Stuyentific Americans impressed the judges with their plans for sustainability and outreach. The Hoku Award, sponsored by Timothy Maguire, goes to Team 694, Stuypulse.

Mahalo Award: 2601

One team with us here today has risen above their Graciously Professional colleagues to earn a hearty “Mahalo” from the judges on behalf of our competitors. This team provided not only robot parts, but actually an entire robot to a pre-rookie team they have taken under their steel wings. Join me in saying Mahalo and thank you to FRC Team 2601, the Steel Hawks.

Kumu (Mentor/Teacher) Award: Allan Bailey (Team 375)

This mentor had many rivers to cross,
And many miles to drive
To bring his team wisdom and supplies.
What other mentor would choose to move next to McMaster?
In honor of his dedication and commitment, the Kumu mentor award goes to Allan Bailey of Team 375, The Robotic Plauge.

Big Kahuna: Venkat Shan

Thanks! There were actually a few small anomalies in the recorded match data. I fixed these this past Monday, so now the rankings and match results posted online at the links below match the official FMS ones.
