For those who have already filled out the form, we’ll be sending out confirmations of assigned volunteer roles in the coming weeks.

Aloha!

Are you ready to play Ultimate Ascent one last time? We believe this will be the best Brunswick Eruption yet. We’re preparing a handbook full of all the fine details, but in the meantime, here is some very important information. Mentors, please forward this to your students.

Schedule
Brunswick Eruption 12 will be starting early in order to accommodate a qualification schedule that allows 6 matches per team. Plan to arrive at 7AM. The full schedule is as follows:

7:00 AM Doors open
7:30 AM - 8:00 AM Practices Matches

Awards
This year there are two awards your team might want to prepare for in advance of the competition:

Hoku “Star” Award
Students will be asked to present an informal “five-minute pitch” to a panel of judges. The pitch should convey the various aspects of your team, in terms of sustainability and process, across the spectrum of business organization to robot design and implementation. Although the criteria for this award is broad, focus on explaining what makes your team/program special rather than trying to cram in too many details. The team whose presentation best convinces the judges of their future success will receive a sponsorship award of $1,000 dollars.*

Kumu “Mentor” Award
The Kumu Award is given to a mentor or teacher who represents hard work, persistence and ruthless dedication. To be eligible, teams must submit an essay of 600 words or less explaining how their chosen mentor goes above and beyond the call of duty for their team. Nominations can be submitted by filling out the designated form and must be received by 11:59PM on November 1st. This award is dedicated to the late Mike Wade of NASA Goddard who tirelessly drove an FRC field around the east coast to grow the FIRST program and make off-season events possible.

Other awards include Food Drive Champion, Shoe Drive Champion and our infamous Evil Sundae Survivor. For details on all, please visit http://be.raiderrobotix.org/awards/.

Although my team was not able to attend this event, the webcast was quite nice. Thank you to the BE web team for providing a great stream as well as live rankings and match results.

Team 1923 had a blast this year! Thanks to 25 for hosting, and thank you to our awesome partners 369 and 375. What a way to end the season!

Our sincere thanks to the judges for selecting Team 1676 for the Hoku award. We are humbled and grateful.

Also thank you to 2458, our friends from Gill St. Bernards, for selecting us to be on their alliance. We are thankful for the opportunity and recognize the risk you took in picking us. We only wish we’d been able to pay off on that. It was great to play with 1089 again as well.

1923, 369 and 375: Wow. What a great show! Congratulations, well deserved.

But what a fight from 1626, 1279 and 1143: Great excitement from your alliance!

A short note about 375: When they left the bleachers, they didn’t leave a mess, picking up everything that was there (even stuff that wasn’t theirs). Gracious professionalism, and good manners, too.

Also congratulations to Christian, and to the “long-suffering” Mrs. Cokeley. Wayne got lucky when you found him.

And, of course, Team 25: Always a great time at BE, this year no exception. Well-run, great food, truly evil sundaes, and Koko Ed. Who could want more?

A huge thanks to the host, but we didn’t expect anything less from 25!

Thank you 1923 for selecting us, it turn out into a great partnership! And 375:
we finally had a chance to play together on a winning alliance.
Thanks to everyone again!
