My team is looking into buying a CNC router for next season, we have a budget of around $10000 for the machine. I have seen many posts about Velox but from what I can tell, they are closed. I have looked at the MR1 from Langmuir Systems but it seems too small, and I have looked at the ShopSabre23 but it’s really pricey. Our only real requirement is that we want the cut size to be at least 3’x2’ and obviously we want rigidity. What would you recommend?
How much does losing 6in on Y and 2in on X matter? This is one of the most highly recommended routers in FRC and will be able to handle anything you throw at it.
We have an AVID CNC that works great! i think if you get the 3x2 its within your budget
We purchased a shopsabre 23 for about $10k in 2020 and it has been very good so far. I’d recommend looking into it.
I am a huge ShopSabre Fan. We do all of our router work on the ShopSabre RC in my garage, and Poofs do all of their routing on a PRO 408 iirc.
But, for FRC, the omio is the best value. RC’s enclosure + cart + omio combo is hard to beat for the price. Though If you can spring for a 23, I would go for it over the omio (better software, support, US made, etc).
We have a ShopSabre. Love it.ShopSabre 23 CNC Router Machine | CNC Router Tables | ShopSabre CNC
So basically, go Omio x8 unless we have enough spare budget to go for a 23
I’ll throw in for the Omio X8 2200 USB. We bought one last year and it has proven to be an incredibly simple and robust machine. Very accurate, easy to maintain, and very powerful for it’s size. It’s upped our parts manufacturing abilities by lightyears. All that, and it’s still only about $4000. That’s hard to beat.
I’ll add another +1 to everybody saying omio x8-2200L. We absolutely love ours.
