Just wanted to see how teams were coming along this season with one full week of build season left. Are you ahead or behind schedule? How does this build season compare to previous ones?
We are ahead of schedule compared to our previous seasons. We are about 85% complete with a few things to do but mostly complete.
We’re running about 5 days behind schedule due to the complexity of the bot. We decided to do gears/climbing/ and shooting and have had difficulty finishing it a. Our goal was to have the first iteration done last Saturday. However, from the partial testing we have done I think it’s going to perform fine and won’t need any drastic design overhauls. Should probably have a fully operational bot (minus the gear placer) by the end of tomorrow.
On Saturday, we were ahead of schedule in more places than behind. Due to a round of flu and possibly other junk, we’re now behind schedule. Still, this was the earliest we had a true-size chassis with prototype manipulators running (passive gear hanger), so we’re still ahead on drive practice. Chassis 2 (active gear hanger, integrated winch) should be done in time to do a good bit of test driving before we put it in the bag. Chassis 1 will then be built to the same specs, and we’ll do more drive practice, and possibly add a floor pickup before competition.
Some things are ahead, some things are behind, and for all I know we may be all caught up since I was at the shop last Saturday. The key thing is I am confident in our ability to meet the deadline, we (mostly) make it every year.
Control (programming/electrical) team is on schedule.
Build team is doing their best for the parts we have so far.
Rep is on schedule.
CAD is on schedule as far as I can tell.
Things were behind in the middle, but we’re quickly picking up. We’ll likely be done before the scrimmage at this point, but we’re on the edge if we have a bad day or 2. It’s looking similar to last year at this point.
I suspect that the teams that are behind schedule aren’t piping up as much here, since being behind schedule seems to be the default norm for most teams.
I’ll admit that we’re not where we want to be, but it still looks like we’ll finish on time if we put some extra time in.
For the first time in 3 years, we are actually on schedule, if not ahead of schedule. Our practice robot was finished a week ago, and our goal is to finish our competition robot this coming Thursday so it can be taken to 179’s practice facility on Saturday.
Hopefully no finishing the robot on the Thursday before the regional, fingers crossed.
We had a goal of getting the robot together and working by the end of week 5, which was yesterday…we mostly made it. The climber is not on yet, but we finished building it today, and will install it first thing Monday. We have a week to tweak the program, and get things working smoothly, make the bumpers, and get a little bit of driver practice. Then we have to get the practice robot done…
Our goal was to get the robot done by the end of Week 5, and with just the camera mounts to do still we’re pretty much on schedule. We still have to debug and tweak our auto code, but with luck that will be done by Monday. Then we have the rest of the time for drive practice!
Every year our goal is to have the robot functionally “done” by week 4. We actually did it this year! :ahh: We had major set point goals and kinda made up the smaller goals week by week.
