With so many teams joining the Open Alliance and documenting their prototyping and development process, I think it would be useful to sort the build threads, to give people an idea of which Build Threads they should look at.
Here is one sorting, using simply the Statbotics default teams ranking.
(request to add something similar as a feature to Statbotics)
ash4fun:
On the other hand, @Strategos it might be cool to have a filter option that includes teams with certain common properties (like open alliance, but also maybe HOF, 2024 blue banner winners, etc.)
This list isn’t perfect, however hopefully it can still be somewhat useful to people obsessing over build threads, and hopefully other people will take to improve it.

Open Alliance threads ranked by the 2023 EPA rank.
You’re aware that all that data is from last year, right? I think it’d be appropriate to wait until at least most of the 2024 Open Alliance teams have played in at least one competition before ranking them. And also, using the ranking number in worldwide EPA to rank them is kinda obfuscatory, probably ought to use the actual EPA .
On the other hand, @Strategos it might be cool to have a filter option that includes teams with certain common properties (like open alliance, but also maybe HOF, 2024 blue banner winners, etc.)

Hey Nick - At least you aren’t the highest ranked OA Regional team to not make Champs last year!
17th 3205 District team
11th 95 District team
4th 1787 Regional team (ouch)

99% sure they qualified. We were the highest ranked team in NE to not qualify for CMP , and 95 was well above us. I assume they had to decline cuz champs is expensive af!

They’ll have their day, hopefully. Great robots coming from them in the past few years (at least since Covid is when I recall really following them).
Also, I didn’t realize how many OA teams there are. Very easy to get lost in the sea of threads.

Ranking OA teams (there are too many teams with one or two year experiences) with their EPA ranks is just weird. If I have to give example from my team, we didn’t pass our rookie season well because of financial issues and we’re looking forward for our 2024 performance.
Anyway, my dude knows his job (we actually ranked 99 )

Why not? It’s just another way to look at the same data.
Although there’s no direct correlation between reading a teams Build thread being more impactful on another teams success purely by their ranking. It depends how much they share, the quality of the writing in the threads, etc. It’s just a new way of reshaping the same data we already have in a new way that might tell us something we didn’t know before.
Could be completely useless, might bear fruit. Why not try something different

I’m just moreso annoyed at publicly ranking a bunch of teams that are actively trying to help people. Ranking just introduces something icky in that despite it all being public knowledge anyways.
