Bumper numbers

We always embroider our numbers (2015 excepted ). The last few years, a team mom had the machine, before that we sent them to a local embroider shop. They look great and hold up well. Actually we made an extra set in 2014 for 2015. So we are the ones responsible for no bumpers in 2015.

What are the rules regarding colors on the numbers for the bumpers.

The 2016 rule was:

Team numbers must be displayed and positioned on the BUMPERS such that an observer walking around the perimeter of the ROBOT can unambiguously tell the Team’s number from any point of view and meet the following additional criteria:

• A. consist of numerals at least 4 in. high, at least ½ in. in stroke width, and be either white in color or outlined in white

• B. must not wrap around sharp corners (less than 160 degrees) of the FRAME PERIMETER

The bumper rules (as with all of them) are subject to change from year to year, but the 2012-2014 team number marking rules were very similar if not identical to 2016. ('5 is right out!)
