Does anyone know anything about the C compiler we will be allowed to use for the 2004 FIRST Robotics competition?
We are ready to get rid of PBasic and all its limitations and start coding.
Will the C compiler be available to test on the Edubot?
Tim
The MPLAB PIC C Compiler comes in the EDU Kit.
We already got our C Compiler, but we’re having trouble loading it on the school computers which run Windows 2000, anyone have any ideas?

Doesn’t Win2K have a compatibility setting? Try running the program with its compatibility set to 95 or 98 and see if it works.
a. Check PC System Requirements
i. Hardware:
1. Pentium class processor
2. 32MB RAM (128MB recommended)
3. 85MB of free hard-disk space
ii. Supported Operating Systems:
1. Windows 98 SE
2. Windows ME (Microchip MPLAB only; IFI Loader will not
work on ME)
3. Windows NT 4.0 SP6a Workstations (NOT Servers)
**4. Windows 2000 SP2 or higher**
5. Windows XP Home and Professional
You might want to look at this
No, No, We have Service Pack Two installed, We can get everything to work except for step three, the IFE loader.
The installation won’t proceed. It says te windows files need to be updated and that it would restart and everything will be fine. But it still doesn’t work.
I had the same issue installing the loader. I installed sp4 and it worked.
For some unknown reason after we installed Service pack 4, our computers repeatedly rebooted whenever we logged on.
Is it the C compiler that won’t work, or is it the MPLAB IDE ?
I haven’t tried to use the latest (last summer) IDE, because I had problems in WinXP with the previous new one for which i also had to upgrade my PICStart.
The IDE won’t install. I’m sure that the service pack problem is unique to our school

This might sound stupid, but do you have Administrative priv’s when trying to install? You’d be surprised how many times that happens (as trivial as it sounds)…
