During a Qual match, 1114 went full speed on the cable cover, catching some serious air. The aftermath is shown here.
We lost a swerve module on that bugger. Full speed into it while trying to spin = sideways module = crunch.
That carpet is absolutely TOAST. We saw carpet in that condition at Michigan State Champs too. I wonder what’s going to be done to fix the issue. It’s getting pretty bad how quickly these robots can chew through the carpet.
Turret boogaloo part 2
This carpet issue is probably turning the GDC into lunatics scratching their heads.
GDC gonna drop a regolith game on us
Too soon.
I think the issue would be less prevalent if the cable cover wasn’t so steep, if it was slightly less steep there would probably be a lot less robot injury on the field.
Someone get that robot a pillow. It’ll have neck cramps when it wakes up!
Actually swapped out relatively smooth
Is this due to the swerve drives? Or are robots with other types of drive trains having trouble too?
I’d imagine only the wide tanks would have that trouble. Didn’t see many of those this year.
Could also be an issue for mecanum drives. Best of those I saw were on 494/70; did either of those get tripped up by the speed bump?
I remember. It was Carver Quals 112.
We (2358) got some air and got stuck on a ball in Midwest Quarter Finals 3 Match 1. (At 2:10 in the video) We run a swerve drive.
Had to have an alliance partner knock us off; luckily we didn’t go over. Hell of a climb speed to make it to traversal in the remaining time. Very proud of our driver for handling it well.
During a qual 62 at Midwest Regional, team 111 went over as well. They run a swerve drive as well and a were bit top heavy with the turret. Many times we thought they’d tip going over the cable cover and it finally happened. (1:32 in the video)
