When: October 5th - 6th Where: Tentatively Woodside High School (awaiting final confirmation) Registration: $450* + $100 volunteer deposit (returned after completing team volunteer assignment)
I am excited to announce that CalGames, the perennial Bay Area off-season event, is open for 2018 registration. We will be playing FIRST Power Up with the Chezy Champs rule modifications. Our goal is to make this a valuable off-season competition focused on growth and the team experience for all teams competing.
Volunteers: We are looking for volunteers to join us in creating the best possible competition experience for teams at CalGames. If you are interested in volunteering with us, or shadowing a volunteer position, please fill out this form.
Not yet, we are going to wait until closer to the competition date before opening up second robot registration. We want as many unique teams to get the opportunity to play in the off-season as possible.
You can register for open registration now, it will just be marked off as “registered at 12:01am” on open registration morning, and you will get confirmation of this when open registration begins.
The registration for this event is pretty complicated, and I am working on simplifying the process with WRRF. Hope this helps!
There was an email sent out that second robot registration would open 8/1 @ 12:01AM, with a lottery if multiple teams submitted before then (similar to the open registration period), so that last slot will likely be filled today.
Registration as of 7/31 (before midnight) had 36 teams and 3 on wait list. Two more teams are on wait list after that and possibly one more rookie team. PLEASE let us know soonest ([email protected] ) as soon as possible if you are not coming to CalGames and are on the list below, so someone can take your slot.
A team info and Planning Leads mtg will be on 8/11 at Woodside, most likely in the mid-morning (Team mtg, then Planning mtg). CalGames will be notifying the Community about that shortly!
We had a great time at CalGames! It was amazing to see how far we’ve come, from being basically non-functional at SFR to being picked by the 4th seed alliance. Thank you to our alliance partners 649 and 668!
Thank you to everyone who made CalGames possible! Team 1868 had a great time competing with all the teams there. Thank you to our amazing alliance partners 846, 1351, and 972!
I am a mentor on 2854 and proud of our mostly rookie drive team. The autonomous was rock solid. Kudos to the Funky Monkeys who were the strongest team there, but I was super impressed by the Janksters, who were versatile and consistent. This is a great off-season event. Thanks to Ceal and the many volunteers, and of course Team 100, our hosts.
