Camera Working...then mysteriously stopped

I had the camera working, used a tweaked version of Kevin’s code, and then all of a sudden (with no changes or damage whatsoever) it stopped. Now instead of the green and red lights that were constantly lit before, there is one green light, and no movement of the camera. No changes were made to the robot or the code so what could be the issue??

I think your problem is that while the camera searching the target and turning around, the PWM wires which connected to the camera being disconnected, because the wire is too short, and suddenly it disconnect and you dont notice.

this problem accured to me many times, and it keep accuring.

Check your back up battery. Remember, just like always, the Servos are actually powered by that battery. This bit us several times last season.
Additionally, the TTL board gets pulled off the RC easily. That also killed us last year too.

I agree with Mr. Bill… Your backup battery is a prime candidate.

Also, when resetting the robot via the RC reset button, press and hold the reset for 5 seconds. Last year’s camera did not like quick resets and I assume that this year’s camera may exhibit similar behavior.

Mike

Thanks, I’ll try your suggestions after school.

Nothing worked, The red light actually comes on for a second and starts to track, and then it stops and goes off.

(emphasis mine)

I’m going to bet that it has something to do with the code. What were the changes made to it, exactly?

A lot changed but then I went back to the default and still nothing. It worked fine on default before.

If you’re using the bells and whistles version, make sure nothing funky was left in EEPROM. You can just overwrite it or wipe it using the directions in the docs.

i dont know why but now im having the same problem, i guess it is the backup batterry… because i was tierd of the camera i started to program something else, and then i saw that when i turn the RC off it turns off immediatly, not as before… it suppose to turn off after 5 seconds.

OK, I’ve checked every possible thing, it seems like it’s defective. Nothing works, I’ve even tried different servos! I really need some help!

it might be the ttl connector is loose… thats our problem. so if anyone has any simple solutions, please share!

I don’t think it’s the TTL connector, this problem is really strange.

we we’re running the light off of a battery at the beginning of the season and when the votage on the battery dropped slightly the light’s changed slightly and the camera could not see it clearly. If you’re doing the same thing try running the light off a constant power supply or change batteries often.

other than that I would agree with the backup battery thing stated above.

yea. we have that problem a lot where the camera just stops even though the code is fine. it just takes patience and a lot of hard resets. turn off main battery and then disconnect backup battery. leave unplugged for a few seconds. plug backup battery in FIRST then main battery. do that a few times. press reset on controller. turn the camera on and off. and make sure the pwms arent the problem. they tend to go bad easily. so yea. hope this helps.
