CameraServer best practices

Hey dumb question while it’s bumping around my head.

Are teams still using CameraServer? Or is there something else / a better practice for streaming video to the driverstation / dashboards.

At home a usb video feed was reasonable, but never perfect. But connected to the Field it was not usable

I was somewhat expecting the new 6ghz radios to help alliviate datarate issues. But it could be so many potential things. But definitely a user skill issue is in the mix. It was a later addition in the season.

Would love to hear what people are doing these days. Be it specific hardware, best practices for settings, etc

Hope everyone’s having a happy friday

We also struggled with this.
I had to manually delete and remake the camera server widget on elastic multiple times every match, and it would stop working halfway through the match ~50% of the time…

We used PhotonVision this year and showed on Elastic the stream from one of the cameras (the stream is provided by PhotonVision). It worked with no issues during competition.

USB cameras have always been a little hit or miss. We bought an old axis IP camera because they just always work.

I was thinking about desktop capture coprocessor and stream that feed thru cameraserver for debugging. However I had never started that code as the use case is pretty niche. One of the use case could be ROS on coprocessor running rviz.
