Can We???
I guess that depends on whether or not you have a hack saw?
If you’re wondering whether or not it’s allowed, read the rules, see if there’s anything prohibiting you from modifying drivetrain parts other than motors. I don’t recall seeing anything, but I admit I didn’t read the rules well enough to know for sure, either.
We Have A Hack Saw And the rule Book didn’t say anything about it. we was just wondering can we move the gears back. This is what we are using Toughbox Nano Tube 31, Two 500 Key Shafts (am-0688)
This is legal as far as I know.
I used to work in a body shop, and it was often easier to “chop” stuff in the middle. You try to leave the precision mounting elements alone and take a boring part that was long and make it shorter. If you can find an extrusion that will fit inside or outside of the tube, that will simplify things. You can also try to it using plates to mount to either side and bolt through. There are obviously other ways to rejoin it, and if you have an appropriate sponsor, you may want to ask them first.
This also sounds like one of those times when measure twice and cut once is actually not cautious enough. I’d suggest measuring, marking it up, checking it, AND reviewing it with another person to check your math. Also, remember about your kerfs and that it easier to trim more away than it is to put it back on.
