Can We Talk About That Live Band in Ontario?

They’re pretty lit. I feel like every regional needs something like it. Who agrees?

I’m enjoying them on the stream.

I’m a fan.

Fantastic. The flow between them and then the field action is perfectly executed.

EDIT:

BA DE YA, DANCIN’ IN SEPTEMBER

I love it (on the stream, at least).

Wonder how it actually sounds at the event?

I’m really enjoying them, it definitely fills the gaps between each match.

It works incredibly well.

They had a band playing in the morning at OCR IIRC.

It’s pretty legit. :+1:t3:

Having a live band during field reset is awesome! ONT DCMP organizers are killing it!

Am at event, can confirm that the live band sounds great.

The band is Turbo Street Funk. This may be the only event when I’m happy for a timeout because they can play for longer. Definitely a fan.

Thanks for posting the name of the band. Saw them at the Orillia Folk Festival, they are very cool.

And kudo’s to FIRST Ontario for having such a high caliber group play live music during a DCMP. That is really moving the bar for other events.

That live band was on point and a nice new element. Petition to add something like this to every regional?

Where can I sign this petition? We have had some bands down here in Southern California, usually on Saturday mornings, and it has always been an awesome way to start the day. I’d love to have a band play between eliminations matches at every event.

It was a pleasant change. They (field crew) even let them finish a song even after the time out had expired. With the high scoring finials we all needed just that little extra clam down.

Those guys were awesome! Thanks to FIRST Robotics Canada for booking them. My favourite moment was when they played Spadina Bus, a great song I haven’t heard for years.

Does anyone remember the band’s name so I can look them up? (Edit) Whoops, got it: https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1673957&postcount=12

There.

As much as I love DJ Nick (the reason Canada has the best competition music in FIRST), the band was a really cool addition. It made the event feel special, and much more important.

Clearly music is a matter of personal taste. I was at this event and did not enjoy this band at all. I did enjoy the DJ.
