I see the rules about not going into the opponent’s source, amp, and speaker; but I don’t see anything about going through their stage. Is that licit?
You can. Although, you may not interact with a robot that is no longer touching the carpet or a robot in the stage zone during the last 20 seconds of the match.
Thanks!
Yeah, but at Great risk of penalty
Before the last 20 seconds, it appears there is very little risk of penalty outside of clear, specific circumstances.
G422 PODIUM protection. Prior to the last 20 seconds of a MATCH, a ROBOT may not contact (either directly or transitively through a NOTE and regardless of who initiates contact) an opponent ROBOT whose BUMPERS are in contact with their PODIUM.
Violation: TECH FOUL.
There might be some risk going near the alliance wall side of the opponents’ stage if an opponent robot is there
G424 STAGE protection. A ROBOT may not contact (either directly or transitively through a NOTE and regardless of who initiates contact) an opponent ROBOT if either of the following criteria are met:
A. the opponent ROBOT is not in contact with the carpet or
B. any part of either ROBOT’S BUMPERS are in the opponent’s STAGE ZONE during the last 20
seconds of the MATCH.
Violation: 2 TECH FOULS plus the opponent ALLIANCE is awarded the ENSEMBLE RP if a Qualification
MATCH.
If a robot is climbing or endgame has started, probably don’t, but otherwise there’s no issue.
Interestingly, it appears that climbing on your opponents’ stage not only qualifies for onstage, but affords you protection under G424A. (They also have G424B protection in the last 20 seconds, so offsetting RP penatlies). Not sure how harmony would be awarded, but it appears that two opposing robots on the same chain would qualify for that too.
I expect that last bit will be fixed in a team update.
